AC Milan's reserve team has performed well at the World Junior Championship and is expected to be loaned out next season.

Nigerian midfielder Ellertu is one of AC Milan's reserve coach Abate's most trusted players this season, making 24 of his 32 appearances in all competitions, tied with his partner Zeroli and goalkeeper Nava for the most appearances.

He is currently representing Nigeria at the Under-20 World Junior Championship in Argentina, wearing the number 10 shirt as a substitute in the quarter-finals against the hosts, and provided a precise assist to his teammates in injury time to help them advance to the quarter-finals 2-0.

Ellertu's performance at this World Youth Championship has been a pleasant surprise, and combined with his performances for AC Milan's reserve team in the league and youth Champions League, it can be said that he has enough strength to seek further development. At just 1.70 metres tall, he has developed a midfield core similar to the Rossoneri's first team, Ben Nasser, and can complete all aspects of tackles, organizing, advancing and tandem on the pitch. The two sides have already extended the player's existing contract until 2025 by early renewing it at the end of last year.

If Ellerto can find a Serie B team that matches his technical and tactical style in the new season, it will play an important role in promoting the development of his career. His former team-mates Nasty and the likes of Colombo have had similar trajectories, while Pobega is the latest successful example of a return to the Rossoneri's first team after a loan spell.

Last summer, last season's AC Milan reserve top scorer Nasty moved to Serie B side Cosenza on loan to train. After about half a season of adaptation, the 19-year-old largely established himself as a regular in the second half of the season, contributing key goals in a number of games. At present, Genoa, who will return to Serie A next season, and veteran side Parma have shown some interest in it.

Colombo, also from AC Milan's own youth system, embarked on the road of loan training as early as the winter window of 2021. The 21-year-old was able to join promoted Malcce on loan at the start of the season after getting enough time in Serie B last year and became the team's leading scorer in the forward line, and will hopefully return to the San Siro Stadium.
