For the research institutions and experts and scholars who participated in "Maker Guangdong" for the first time, how do they view the event itself? What experience does the event provide them with through their participation experience? In the future, how will "Maker Guangdong" continue the action effect and innovative spiritual posture of "walking in the forefront of the country"?
On the above issues, a reporter from Nanfang Daily recently interviewed Zhu Hai, a professor at the School of Physics of Sun Yat-sen University, to talk about how "Maker Guangdong" uses innovation as an anchor to nurture new kinetic energy.

Hai Zhu, Professor of School of Physics, Sun Yat-sen University, Doctoral Supervisor, Ph.D. of Changchun Institute of Optics, Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, postdoctoral research at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore from August 2011 to July 2014. His research interests include epitaxial growth of semiconductor molecular beams, microcavitral quantum electrodynamics, semiconductor mesonography, and random lasers for disordered systems. As the first author/corresponding author, he published 50 SCI papers in authoritative journals such as Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Nanoscale, ACS Photonics, Journal of Materials Chemistry, Applied Physics Letters, etc., and the papers were naturalized Journals such as Photonics, Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology and other journals SCI cite more than 1,000 times.
Nanfang Daily: What highlights impressed you?
Zhu Hai: I think there are two aspects that are more innovative. The first is that on the basis of the country's original industrial chain, there are many enterprises that can achieve great improvement in the technical level, which I personally feel very much. Make the original enterprise bigger and stronger, and then upgrade the market and technology to a higher level, which is a great highlight of the event;
The second highlight is that in view of the current national high-tech, especially the key technologies of "card neck" such as materials and electronic components, many breakthroughs have been achieved, which has helped and promoted the industrial upgrading and intelligent manufacturing of Guangdong Province. These two points are very obvious, and many companies are beginning to realize the need to innovate and upgrade their technology, and the participating companies generally have this sense of urgency.
Nanfang Daily: Combined with your experience in the event, what experience does the event provide for the participating companies?
Zhu Hai: I think it is very good that this activity can play a few roles. The first is to provide a good communication platform for enterprises to help enterprises to raise funds; the second is to promote mutual exchanges between different fields, help promote more industrial clusters, facilitate the formation of small and medium-sized enterprises, and play a role in promoting the upgrading of the entire high-tech industry;
The most important point is that this activity invites many research institutions, or university experts like us, to participate in the technological upgrading or technology research and development process of enterprises through this activity, help research institutions and university experts track and serve enterprises, provide them with some constructive opinions, and help enterprises achieve technological breakthroughs faster. I think this is very important, because for enterprises, there is government-led, expert intervention, can give enterprises the impetus, stimulate their passion for innovation and awareness.
Nanfang Daily: In the future, how will "Maker Guangdong" continue the action results and innovative spiritual posture of "walking in the forefront of the country"?
Zhu Hai: All aspects of the event are very good, maybe in terms of time arrangement, it needs to be slightly extended to provide sufficient communication and communication time for participating enterprises, research institutions and experts, so that everyone can have in-depth exchanges and discussions. For the technicians in the institute, there may be a disconnect with the company. The institute may have technology in hand, but it is difficult to realize how much these technologies promote the development of the company's career, so I hope that we can continue to optimize the entire event process and build a higher level of competition and exchange stage.
