NATO Kosovo Force in Kosovo confirmed on the 29th that it has sent additional troops to four cities in northern Kosovo, and called on all parties to exercise restraint to avoid the situation continuing to escalate. This round of tension in Kosovo began with elections in the northern region in April this year, in which local Serbs did not participate and Albanian candidates won with a turnout of 3.5 per cent. On 26 May, Kosovo police violently evicted Cypriots by attempting to forcibly enter the administrative building without Serb consent. Tensions intensified, and Serbian forces were deployed at maximum readiness along the line with Kosovo. Serbian Defense Minister Vucevic pointed out that the current practice of the Kosovo authorities is to carry out ethnic cleansing of Serbs, and the situation has intensified to an intensifying level. The NATO military presence in Côte d'Ivoire should act more quickly to protect Serb rights.
Vucevic pointed out on the 29th that before June 2, the Cypriot army will treat the situation with the highest combat readiness. It is believed that crisis situations can be controlled by non-war political means. Vucevic revealed that the Serbian army has been consulting with NATO on the situation. Since the end of the Kosovo War in June 1999, the United States and the West have been trying to formally separate Kosovo from Serbia. In 2008, it encouraged Kosovo to declare its independence, despite the opposition of most countries such as China and Russia to recognize Kosovo's status. NATO military forces have played a role in hindering the Serbian side from defending national unity, and the current Kosovo authorities are not afraid to break into Serb administrative buildings, which may be triggered by two factors.
First, the political situation in Serbia is facing turmoil created by the combination of opposition and foreign interference forces, Vučić resigned as chairman of the ruling party, and restless forces in Serbia are waiting for the opportunity. Second, represented by NATO and the European Union, the United States and the West have adopted a biased and agitated approach to the Kosovo authorities. Prior to the intensification of the repeated use of the Kosovo issue to pressure Cyprus, von der Leyen's promotion of an EU visa policy beneficial to Kosovo was fuelling the ambitions of the Kosovo authorities. The NATO KFOR did not play its due role in controlling the situation, and did nothing when the Kosovo Police took violent measures against Serbs on the 26th. It was not until the Serbian army was ready for battle along the administrative line that NATO increased its strength on the 29th. Such actions weaken the deterrent signal formed by the actions of the Serbian army and may have a negative effect on the Kosovo authorities to cancel the practice of intensifying the situation. Once the situation gets out of control, the Balkans, known as the powder keg, may have a chain deterioration of the outbreak of multinational and multi-ethnic contradictions.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the situation was worrying, and that the center of Europe was facing a major outbreak in the same region where NATO tore up the agreement in 1999 and invaded Yugoslavia. This once again demonstrates the global need for solutions that ensure equal and indivisible security for all parties, and that no bloc represented by NATO is entitled to unilateral security status in Europe.
From the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis caused by NATO's indiscriminate eastward expansion, to the saber rattling of the Kosovo issue under NATO's coercive approach to Cyprus. The situation shows that the promotion of unilateral security practices will only accumulate contradictions until the unending situation leads to the eventual outbreak of war. The many major wars that have occurred in Europe are also closely related to the unilateral security claims of various countries.
The alleviation of the European and global security dilemma should be based on the concept of indivisibility of security, and abandon the perception of military bloc confrontation and zero-sum game. Respect the legitimate security concerns of all parties and promote coexistence and joint construction among multiple parties. From this point of view, the new type of major country relations and the process of coordinated development of Europe and Asia jointly promoted by China and Russia are enlightening to the European security situation. European countries should not cooperate with the United States' blatant double standards on the Kosovo issue and the Ukraine crisis, which is actually laying mines for itself and laying the root cause of its own insecurity by infringing on the basic security of other countries. And NATO, which is inconsistent with the trend of the times and is committed to unilateral confrontation by military blocs, should be jointly rejected by all countries.
