For the development of China's civil aviation, May 28 is destined to go down in history - the domestic large aircraft C919 successfully completed the first commercial flight.

The first commercial flight, MU9191, took off from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport in the morning of the same day, and successfully arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport two hours later, successfully completing its first commercial flight mission.

This marks that the domestic machine C919 has officially entered the stage of commercial operation. Chinese travel on a large domestic plane is no longer an unattainable dream.

And the arrival of this day is inseparable from the positive contribution of some cities. They can also be said to be the biggest winners in the era of commercial operation of domestic large aircraft.

01

As we all know, the R&D and production and manufacturing capabilities of large passenger aircraft are an important embodiment of a country's aviation level and an important symbol of a country's overall strength.

The C919 has taken ten years from the approval of the state in 2007 to the first test flight in 2017. After that, it took almost 6 years to obtain the type certificate, complete the first order delivery, and then officially start commercial flights. The complexity behind this is evident.

This is because behind the manufacture of large aircraft is a fairly long industrial chain, which must rely on the cooperation of all parties.

A historic moment! These cities are credited to the successful success of the C919 for its first commercial flight

Previous reports show that 22 provinces and cities, more than 200 enterprises, 36 colleges and universities, hundreds of thousands of personnel participated in the development and supporting of C919, and 32 multinational companies and joint ventures made outstanding contributions to domestic large aircraft.

Among them, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Nanchang, Shenyang, Suzhou, Changsha, Chongqing and other cities can be described as indispensable.

First of all, Shanghai goes without saying. The main manufacturer of the C919 is COMAC in Shanghai. And whether it is a test flight or the start of this commercial flight, it is all departing from Shanghai.

Secondly, the nine sections of the C919, including nose, front fuselage, middle fuselage, central wing, and middle rear fuselage, are mainly manufactured by domestic enterprises such as Xifei, Chengfei and Shenfei under AVIC. Its corresponding cities are Xi'an, Chengdu and Shenyang.

In fact, Shenyang, Xi'an and Chengdu were once China's three major aviation industry centers.

Today, the aviation industry is still a traditional and advantageous industry in Xi'an, and it is also one of the six pillar industries in Xi'an;

The scale of Chengdu's aerospace industry ranks fourth in the country, forming a relatively complete aviation industry chain integrating aircraft research and development, design, manufacturing, testing and maintenance, and has a number of industry leading enterprises such as Chengdu Flight Company and backbone scientific research institutions such as Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute.

In addition, the latest news shows that from May 29, the C919 aircraft will be put into normal commercial operation on the route from Shanghai Hongqiao to Chengdu Tianfu. This means that in addition to Beijing and Shanghai, Chengdu is also one of the first cities in China to try C919.

Shenyang, as one of the birthplaces of China's aviation industry, has a complete aviation industry chain covering aircraft and civil aircraft large components, aircraft engines, aerospace engines, gas turbines and so on.

In addition to Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Shenyang, Nanchang, Suzhou, Changsha, Chongqing, etc., are also important participants in C191 manufacturing.

For example, the brake system and main landing gear of the C919 are produced and designed in Changsha;

core parts such as blades and flame cylinders, from Suzhou;

fiberglass cotton felt and a considerable part of aluminum on the cabin body come from Chongqing;

The front fuselage and middle and rear fuselage of the C919 are all manufactured in Jiangxi, accounting for 25% of the total workload of fuselage manufacturing.

In addition, Hafei, located in Harbin, also undertook the manufacture of fuselage composite parts, including four large components, including the main landing gear hatch, the nose landing gear door, the wing fairing and the vertical tail.

It can be said that these cities are the main forces involved in the manufacture of C919.

With the successful commercial operation of C919, the next step of C919 will also accelerate mass production, which will undoubtedly bring positive help to the aviation industry in related cities.

According to public reports, the C919 is planned to reach 150 aircraft per year in the next five years, and there are now more than 1,200 orders.

The demand behind this will obviously bring a larger market to the participating cities in the supply chain. In other words, with the mass production of C919, the aviation industry in these cities will also usher in new development opportunities.
