Emperor Wen of Sui was furious and wanted to recall Yang Yong and re-establish him as crown prince. The ministers around him hurriedly prepared to write the edict in paper and ink, but did not expect that at this time Yang Guang had heard the news and rushed, with a false edict, led the army to rush to the palace, the two ministers were arrested, Yang Guang ran into the palace of Emperor Wen of Sui with his cronie Zhang Heng, after a scream, Zhang Heng came out and asked, the emperor has long died, why not report? The crowd did not dare to speak.
Subsequently, Yang Guang brought a false edict and gave Yang Yong death.
In July of that year, Yang Guang ascended the throne. This is the historical Sui Emperor.
Soon after the Sui Emperor ascended the throne, he dug a canal for play. Although the canal connected north-south traffic, it almost depleted the treasury, and hundreds of thousands of peasant workers died at that time.
Due to the arrogance and lasciviousness of the Sui Emperor, the brutal rule, and the people's livelihood, rebel armies sprang up in various places, the most powerful of which was the Wagangzhai rebel army. The Wagangzhai rebels reached the vicinity of Luoyang, and the Sui Emperor fled to Jiangdu, which is now Jiangsu.
