A White Shark Mix submersible is diving 40 meters underwater, slowly and carefully.

With a depth of 40 meters, it does not pose a threat to the diver's life, and the limit of human free diving can reach more than 100 meters, but this machine can provide additional power for divers and shorten the dive time.

Now, the staff is testing the indicators of the white shark. They move the machine in deep water, and the white shark is equipped with multiple expensive cameras — which makes it easier for divers to record everything underwater.

Therefore, the white shark is not only an auxiliary submersible, but also a machine loaded with intelligent modules and opens up the underwater entertainment lifestyle.

White Shark's manufacturing company "Deep Blue" is in Tianjin, in addition to professional underwater customers, they also sell products to deep-water enthusiasts who dive in scenic areas - this is different from what we usually hear about "Tianjin Smart", and now, smart manufacturing is also adding more and more interesting products to the lives of ordinary people.

And the stories of powerful factories, such as rockets in the sky, drilling for oil, assembling airplanes, or calculating a huge number to predict the direction of a typhoon, are still played out every day.

In the production workshop of an aerospace technology company in Dongli District, Tianjin, a new rocket fairing is stepping up production. The workshop is highly clean, and all equipment is in an orderly manner and strictly in accordance with the procedures - this is an aerospace science and technology industrial park integrating R&D, incubation, manufacturing and other functions.

It also has a unique name: the space station "Dream Factory". This factory is researching new aerospace material applications, a field that seems narrow, but can form a huge industrial agglomeration and drive the development of the industrial chain.

A city with its 7 years of "intelligent change"

Obviously, the mysterious new aerospace materials and the underwater probes that can be used by divers, one large and one small, are in stark contrast, but what connects them is intelligent technology.

Data show that in the first quarter of this year, investment in Tianjin's high-tech industry increased by 33.4%, and investment in strategic emerging industries increased by 41.9% - based on this, it is Tianjin's confidence in developing intelligent technology industry.

Taking Tianjin Binhai New Area as an example, this year the district focused on the start of 223 new projects, and aimed at the direction of international industrial development, laying out and building 10 future industrial agglomeration areas in the fields of biomanufacturing, cell and gene therapy.

In the long run, Tianjin has become a "super data factory" due to its large computing power; It has become a "super manufacturing factory" because of its large rocket and aircraft manufacturing bases, and a "smart lifestyle factory" because of equipment close to civilian use such as submersibles and drones.

A city with its 7 years of "intelligent change"

From May 18 to 21, Tianjin hosted the 7th World Intelligence Conference. Baidu's Robin Li, Lenovo's Yang Yuanqing, 360's Zhou Hongyi, Ali's Wang Jian, etc., and other leading Internet manufacturers gathered in Tianjin to discuss the development trend of cutting-edge intelligent technology including ChatGPT, computing power, and AI.

They also mentioned the numbers and expectations related to Tianjin Intelligence in their on-site speeches.

Yang Yuanqing revealed that Lenovo's business turnover in Tianjin in 2022 will be nearly 23 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17%, fulfilling Lenovo's second goal of 100 billion people in Tianjin two years ahead of schedule.

Zhou Hongyi took out two large model products of 360 and said: 360 will continue to combine its own development strategy with Tianjin's digital transformation construction, especially to implant more artificial intelligence capabilities into the digital Tianjin digital strategy.

At the same time, during this conference, Tianjin signed a total of 98 key projects of more than 100 million yuan, with a total agreement amount of about 81.5 billion yuan, and the signed manufacturing projects involved a new generation of information technology, automobiles, biomedicine, equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials and other industrial chains.

Tianjin's intelligent industry innovation has been stimulated again.

A consensus is that since the 2017 World Intelligence Conference landed in Tianjin, relying on the window of the World Intelligence Conference, Tianjin not only completed huge investment projects during the 7th World Intelligence Conference, but also consolidated the strategic layout of developing intelligent industries and developing high-tech industries.

So far, it has been quite effective.

Counting Tianjin and the World Intelligence Conference have been accompanied, and have gone through 7 years of spring and autumn. In this process, the city of Tianjin has also undergone profound changes.

Innovative change

Diversifying the intelligent industry, Tianjin's "intelligent"-based science and technology entrepreneurship is prepared.

A "Tianjin Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition", which has been successfully held for 11 years, was staged in early May.

Guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the purpose of this competition is to explore, cultivate and serve scientific and technological innovation enterprises - more than 12,000 enterprises and teams in Tianjin have participated in the competition, more than 400 projects have participated in the national finals, more than 150 projects have won national awards, and the amount of investment and financing has exceeded 2 billion yuan.

But numbers are just paper. The innovation strength of Tianjin Intelligence is carried out in industrial parks, new areas, and mysterious laboratories in vast lands.

Some entrepreneurial projects, first in the form of technology.

At Nankai University, a brain-computer interface technology experiment was successful. This is the world's first "non-human primate interventional brain-computer interface test" led by Professor Duan Feng's team - this long string of technical texts translated, which means that the electrical signals entering the cerebral blood vessels can be artificially controlled.

This technology is quite critical and groundbreaking - the "brain-computer interface" can be traced back to the third World Intelligence Conference held in Tianjin in 2019. At that time, the world's first brain-computer interface chip "Brain Whisperer" was officially released at the conference. Then, in November 2022, MetaBCI, the first comprehensive open-source software platform for brain-computer interfaces in mainland China, was released at the 4th Tianjin Brain-Computer Interface Seminar.

Along this timeline, "brain-computer interfaces" transition from technology in the lab to products.

For example, the world's first "pure mind control" artificial neurorobot (i-NeuroSys Robot) system developed by Tianjin University for whole-limb stroke rehabilitation has the ultimate role of rehabilitating patients with physical disabilities caused by stroke.

Today, the system has passed the National Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) test and has been successfully tested in many hospitals, benefiting more than 3,000 patients.

This kind of innovation and entrepreneurship that came out of the laboratory is constantly improving and updating in Tianjin due to intelligent construction. Some of the old Tianjin startups have now grown into industry vanguards.

The aforementioned "Deep Blue" is the best.

A city with its 7 years of "intelligent change"

Founded in 2013 in the Tianjin Economic Development Zone, this technology company focuses on the independent research and development of underwater intelligent equipment, and is now a leading company in this field.

In November last year, Internet Deep (Internet Weekly), an authoritative media in the industry sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Science Press, together with eNET Research Institute and Deben Consulting, released the "2022 Top 50 Robot Enterprise Innovation" list, and Deep Blue as a leading enterprise in the field of underwater intelligent equipment ranked on the list.

From the beginning of the exploration of cable-controlled underwater vehicles (ROVs) to the production of underwater gliders (Glider) and other products, industrial design and technical tests are combined, Deep Blue's products from offshore oil, offshore wind power, scientific research and other professional fields, gradually explore diving, marine exploration, underwater photography and other civilian fields.

Today, technology-based Deep Blue, with its solid underwater technology, is highly praised in the professional field - but it only represents a silhouette of Tianjin's intelligent manufacturing industry, where the field of intelligent applications reaches all aspects, and more often, intelligence is a key hub for the development of the city.

Intelligent change

Technology has created value for Tianjin, and intelligence is the hub of Tianjin.

The city not only provides a rich incubation soil for science and technology startups like "Deep Blue", but also becomes a "smart center" in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region through big data, computing power, and the complete construction of the scientific and technological manufacturing ecological chain.

Taking the Tianjin Supercomputing Center as an example, data shows that more than 15,000 computing tasks are performed here every day, two-thirds of which come from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.

This is not just a floating number, you know, in Beijing's Internet technology companies, engineers work day and night to develop products, Tianjin supplies a large amount of data and computing power demand; In Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, technicians from pharmaceutical companies synthesize various pharmaceutical agents in the laboratory, and the complicated chemical calculations and experimental data are continuously handed over to Tianjin through the network for processing.

With data processing as the hub, the Tianjin Supercomputing Center alone has helped to achieve more than 4,000 innovative results, adding nearly 15 billion yuan of economic benefits to enterprises, and applications involve biomedicine, gene technology, aerospace, weather forecasting and climate prediction.

Not only serving the real economy, Tianjin, a smart hub, also provokes the pillar of trade data.

Data show that in 2022, the total import and export value of Tianjin Port will reach 2.01 trillion yuan, exceeding the 2 trillion yuan mark for the first time, a year-on-year increase of 21.1% - the rapid development of economy and trade has also made the construction of data centers more and more a rigid demand.

Located in Tianjin Free Trade Zone, Tongniuyun Data Center is located 110 kilometers from Beijing city center, 20 kilometers from Tianjin city center, 30 kilometers from Tianjin Binhai New Area and 5 kilometers from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, and its construction purpose is to promote the digital development of Tianjin Airport Economic Zone. The data center processes logistics data from south to north every day, and uses powerful computing power to sort out the complex logistics and transportation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Tianjin's intelligence is not just a technology that "floats in the air" such as computing power and data. As an important "smart hub", some physical projects also use technology to serve all parties.

For example, Shengzhi Warehouse, the largest local intelligent warehousing base for industrial products in Tianjin, was established to provide one-stop digital procurement solutions for important manufacturing enterprises, large central state-owned enterprises and customers in surrounding areas.

A city with its 7 years of "intelligent change"

This intelligent warehouse deploys more than 18,000 bins with a shelf height of more than 8 meters, which can realize the intelligent operation of more than 7,500 SKUs of 13 categories of goods - before the deployment of smart warehouses, the industrial picking mode was to pick goods with orders to each storage location, with long personnel operation lines and low operational efficiency.

The smart warehouse includes iWMS, labeling machines, robots and other devices, and the goods in the warehouse are automatically stored, automatically scanned codes, automatically labeled, automatically out of the warehouse and intelligent inventory.

The value created by manual operations transformed into more productive technological warehousing through intelligent hubs is not only reduced by more than 35% in labor costs, but also increased in picking accuracy from 93% to more than 99%.

More importantly, the warehouse has built a complete digital collaboration system for the industrial product supply chain, which runs through the whole life cycle of goods from production, storage, delivery to consumption, and realizes the intelligent and green industrial chain supply chain upgrade.

All this is the value of Tianjin's intelligent hub, and in essence, the deployment and application of these intelligent industries come from the city's continuous innovation.

The change of the city

Tianjin is not a "rushing" city, intelligence is not "suddenly like a spring breeze", it is gradual, steady and steady.

This process has been a long time, but it can also be summed up by the six World Intelligence Congresses.

The World Intelligence Conference is undoubtedly an important business card for Tianjin to attract investment - from it, you can clearly see the "smart" changes in the city.

In the past few years, a large number of artificial intelligence projects have accelerated their landing in Tianjin. Data show that the seven World Intelligence Conference signed about 800 cooperation agreements or projects, with a total investment of more than 625.3 billion, and the investment direction is concentrated in artificial intelligence, new generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing and other fields.

A city with its 7 years of "intelligent change"

At this World Intelligence Conference, a total of 22 achievements were released, covering new technologies, new products, solutions, application cases, standards and specifications, etc., of which 13 were released for the first time, with a first release rate of 60%.

Intelligent innovation is infinite, and the land of Tianjin has also produced strong scientific and technological genes due to the nourishment of the seventh World Intelligence Conference, and has even become the first choice for many technology companies and corporate headquarters.

According to the data, Ziguangyun, 360, TCL, Lenovo, Kirin and other corporate headquarters settled in Tianjin, the general machine tools of the secondary headquarters of central enterprises were successfully landed, and a number of landmark projects such as Alibaba Tianjin Center, Huawei Kunpeng Ecosystem, Tencent's largest IDC data center in China, iFLYTEK North Sound Valley, CLP New Materials, Hikvision, and Siasun Robot have been invested and landed.

These projects chose to develop in Tianjin, on the one hand, they have achieved themselves - as Zhou Hongyi, chairman of 360 Group, Liu Qingfeng, chairman of iFLYTEK and others, used to participate in the World Intelligence Conference as a guest, but now it has landed in Tianjin and has become a local enterprise and owner.

On the other hand, it has also reshaped the industrial structure of the city. Statistics show that in 2022, the revenue of Tianjin's software and information technology service industry will reach 272.2 billion yuan, an increase of 101.3% over 5 years ago, doubling.

Large companies are vying to settle in Tianjin, and the construction of Xinchuang Haihe Laboratory is also in full swing. A total of 31 enterprises have been successfully selected as the excellent solution of industrial Internet App of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, ranking first in China; The total number of enterprises that have implemented the standard of industrialization and industrialization has reached more than 1,400, and the integration index of industrialization and industrialization has reached 107.2, ranking first in the country. 11 projects were selected as pilot demonstration projects for big data industry development by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2022, ranking third in the country. The construction of communication infrastructure is leading the country, with a total of more than 55,000 5G base stations built, and the download rate of fixed broadband users remains the second in the country. Humi.com has settled in Tianjin, cultivated 26 industry Internet platforms such as Yike Electronics and China Automotive Data, and has more than 10,000 cloud enterprises.

Today, the core scale of Tianjin's artificial intelligence industry has reached 14 billion yuan, and the operating income of artificial intelligence-related industries accounts for 24.5% of the city's above-scale industries and service industries above designated size. In 2020, this proportion was still 23.6%.

These figures are the epitome of the profound "intelligent" changes that have taken place in Tianjin during the 7-year World Intelligence Conference.

Tianjin is continuing to evolve into a "smart capital". Because of the new industrial layout and the development of new intelligent manufacturing, this old industrial city in the north is radiating new vitality.
