AI voice scams are on the rise: 95% simulates the human voice and 77% suffers financial losses to those who connect
IT House News on May 6, according to the latest report released by McAfee, artificial intelligence (AI)-based voice scams are increasingly rampant, and 77% of the people who receive scam calls will cause financial losses.
The report mentions two real-life cases, one of which simulates the victim's relatives through AI and says that he urgently needs money for something; Another uses AI to simulate her daughter and extort a ransom from her mother, but in fact her daughter has not been kidnapped.
Because AI voice cloning tools are so cheap and available, malicious parties can create voice clones quickly and easily. The way they get sample audio is from people sharing their voices on social media. The more you share your voice online, the easier it will be for threat actors to find and clone your voice.
