Public information shows that Zhou Suhong was born in 1979 and is from Huzhou, Zhejiang. She went to Zhejiang Provincial Sports School for volleyball training in April 1992, and was selected for the Zhejiang Women's Volleyball Team in June 1994 and the National Women's Volleyball Team in June 1998.

Zhou Suhong has won championships with the Chinese women's volleyball team in the World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix, Asian Games, Olympic Games and other competitions, and won the title of international athlete in 2000. In September 2004, the Zhejiang Provincial Government awarded her the title of "Meritorious Athlete of Zhejiang Province".

At the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Zhou Suhong helped the Chinese women's volleyball team defeat the Russian team in the Olympic final and win the Olympic gold medal.

In March 2007, Zhou Suhong was elected as the captain of the Chinese women's volleyball team. "She is a veteran, very active and very affinity!" At that time, the head coach of the team, Chen Zhonghe, said this about Zhou Suhong.
