Rockstar and 2K parent company Take-Two have released their financial results for the last fiscal year and fourth quarter, and the following is the specific information:
- In terms of game sales, GTA5 shipped more than 180 million copies worldwide, Red Dead Redemption 2 sold more than 53 million copies, and NBA 2K23 sold more than 11 million copies, the best performance in the series during the same period, and the virtual currency revenue hit a new high in the series.
- Net bookings are expected to soar to $8 billion in fiscal 2025, and when asked if it would be possible to achieve that goal without releasing GTA6, CEO Strauss Zelnick said they weren't talking about specific games, but had a high level of confidence and expected to see great success in 2025.
- 36 games are expected to be released in FY2025 and FY26; FY24 saw NBA 2K24, WWE 2K24 and a new IP, as well as two arcade games (including LEGO 2K Racing).
- Revenue: Net income for fiscal 2023 was $5.35 billion, up 53%; net bookings of US$5.28 billion, up 55%; Net loss of $1.12 billion was primarily due to expenses incurred by acquisitions and depreciation charges for the cancellation of unreleased games.

As Take-Two disclosed its net reservation forecast for fiscal year 2025 (April 2024 to March 2025), it is up to $8 billion. That's well above the current record of $5.3 billion, compared to around $3 billion in regular net bookings before the acquisition of Zynga. Therefore, the most likely speculation to achieve this goal is the release of GTA6.
