WASHINGTON, 24 Oct (Xinhua) -- This year marks the 50th anniversary of China's restoration of its legitimate seat in the United Nations.

Robert Lawrence Kuhn, chairman of the KUHN Foundation of the United States, which has long studied China's development, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency a few days ago that in the past 50 years, China has made remarkable achievements in the multilateral diplomatic arena.

As the world's second-largest economy, China is benefiting from its development experience and becoming an important provider of global public goods.

Kuhn said that China's diplomatic work in the past 50 years is a very important exploration, and reviewing this history will help to understand China's development and also help understand a more globalized and multipolar world.

He believes that the restoration of the legitimate seat of the United Nations not only expands the space for China to participate in international affairs and carry out multilateral diplomacy, but also provides a stage for disseminating China's ideas, sharing China's experience, giving play to the role of a big country, and fulfilling the responsibilities of a big country.

Kuhn pointed out that the global development initiative proposed by the Chinese side is "proactive" and injects "positive energy" into global development.

He said that the global development initiative is built on the basis of China's great achievements, introduces China's development experience and vision to the world, has rich connotations, plans a blueprint for global development, and meets the urgent needs of the world today.

The proposal to build a global community with a shared future for development in the initiative has attracted Kuhn's attention.

He said that the focus of the global community of development destiny is to take development as a priority, make the world more equal and balanced, and meet the development needs of all countries, especially the vast number of developing countries.

Kuhn spoke positively of China's commitment to continue to be a provider of public goods.

He said the pledge sent a new signal to the world that it was "quite remarkable." Providing public goods provides a broader public interest to the world, often irrelevant to its own direct interests, so it is not easy for any country.

Kuhn pointed out that in addition to donating and providing COVID-19 vaccines to countries, China has been helping developing countries build infrastructure under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative for many years, and dispatching peacekeeping forces to support the United Nations with practical actions, which have played a vital role in maintaining world stability.
