The essence of the royal garden - Summer Palace

author:Fuxiang and Chang

Beijing Summer Palace is one of the four famous gardens in mainland China. (The four famous gardens are Beijing Summer Palace, Chengde Summer Resort, Suzhou Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden.) The Summer Palace was a favorite garden of the Qing Dynasty emperors. The Qianlong Emperor visited more than 80 times; The Jiaqing Emperor visited more than 180 times; The Daoguang Emperor has been there more than 70 times, and the Xianfeng Emperor has been there more than 30 times. Why did the emperor like the Summer Palace so much? I don't know how others feel about the Summer Palace? When the contemptible people enter the Summer Palace, they don't want to come out. Breathtaking, beautiful! It's not West Lake, it's better than West Lake!

Haidian District, a western suburb of Beijing, is a collection of famous gardens. The Summer Palace located here is the most complete and largest existing imperial garden on the mainland. The Summer Palace, formerly known as Qingyi Garden, was built in the 15th year of Qianlong (1750) of the Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in the 12th year of Guangxu (1886). The Summer Palace is mainly composed of two parts: Wanshou Mountain and Kunming Lake. The main buildings in the park include Buddha Xiang Pavilion, Baoyun Pavilion, Grand Theater, Seventeen Kong Bridge, Jade Belt Bridge, Stone Fang, Long Corridor and other buildings, which can be called the finest works in the world's architectural culture.

The Summer Palace is green with pines and cypresses, willows and green, Kunming Lake is clear and slightly rippling, and Wanshou Mountain is lush with trees. Summer Summer Palace, green mountains and clear water, blue sky and sky, lotus fragrance wafting on the lake, green willows on the shore of the lake. Immersed in the beauty of the Summer Palace, it is as if you are in the peach blossom source written by Tao Yuanming, which is fascinating and unforgettable.

After entering the Summer Palace, you can see bamboo forests, rockeries and ancient trees everywhere. The calm Kunming Lake is like a huge sky mirror, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, green trees and red flowers in the lake, and the breeze blows through the lake and ripples countless times.

Wanshou Mountain, standing majestically on the shores of Kunming Lake, forms a beautiful reflection in the lake. The mountain is full of various trees, flowers and plants, pavilions. At the southern foot of Wanshou Mountain, a painted corridor with the world's longest red bar and green pillar makes me walk towards the hope of happiness, happiness, happiness and health! Walking in the corridor, you will see the exquisite colorful patterns on the corridor. Walk out of the promenade and come to Kunming Lake, which accompanies Wanshou Mountain day and night. Standing on the shore of the lake, the extreme view is far away, the blue waves are rippling, and the blue is thousands of acres.

The north gate of the Summer Palace is Suzhou Street. Suzhou Street is centered on the Sankong Stone Bridge, with shops on both sides of the bank, with Hedang Street and the bank making markets. Suzhou Street has both the charm of Jiangnan water town and the style of the northern court. Suzhou Street is a waterfront commercial street where the Qianlong Emperor and his mother and concubines played. Walking on the streets of Suzhou is like walking into the heavenly market.

The Summer Palace is so big and big, with mountains and waters, corridors and bridges, houses, palaces, and magnificent royal gardens! What a beautiful scenery the Summer Palace! People walk in the garden as if the sky is upstream.

Speaking of the Summer Palace, you will think of Empress Dowager Cixi. Empress Dowager Cixi (1835-1908) was a sheep in the zodiac and a woman who influenced the fate of the late Qing Dynasty and changed the history of the late Qing Dynasty. Empress Dowager Cixi was a staunch advocate of renovating the Summer Palace. In order to rebuild the Summer Palace, the Qing government did not hesitate to embezzle 30 million taels of silver from the navy. Empress Dowager Cixi lived a luxurious life and enjoyed it. The Summer Palace was renovated to live, play, indulge, and enjoy old age.

The Sino-Japanese naval battle wiped out the Beiyang Naval Division, which was known as the first in Asia, established by Li Hongzhang. China's Beiyang naval division was defeated in the Sino-Japanese War, and Li Hongzhang signed the Treaty of Shimonoseki on behalf of the Qing government, ceding land and paying reparations, and losing sovereignty. Silver alone compensated 230 million taels.

If Empress Dowager Cixi did not divert naval funds to rebuild the Summer Palace, could the Beiyang Navy Division, with the support of abundant human, financial and material resources, defeat Japan in the Sino-Japanese naval battle? The answer is self-evident. Conclusions can be drawn from the ideas of the supreme ruler!

In order to create a powerful navy, Japan's Meiji Emperor donated 300,000 yuan from the imperial private property for naval construction, and ate only one meal a day, and only one fist-sized rice ball per meal. On the other hand, Empress Dowager Cixi Lao Foye embezzled 30 million taels of silver from the navy to build the Summer Palace for her own living and enjoyment, living a luxurious, extravagant and wasteful life, with no less than 108 dishes per meal.

Every time I read the history of the late Qing Dynasty, I was angry and sad, and my heart was sad. Either to cede land and pay reparations, or to sell the country for glory.
