At the just-concluded 2023 China Yixing Far East Global Strategic Partner Annual Conference, Jiang Zhenqiang, President of the Energy Engineering Institute of East China Survey, Design and Research Institute, delivered a keynote speech on "Offshore Wind Power Development Trends and Challenges". The development status, trends and challenges of the offshore wind power industry are deeply interpreted.
Dean Jiang said that in the context of high global carbon emissions, offshore wind power is an important part of clean energy and climate change, which is of great significance for energy transition and carbon neutrality.
In recent years, the development of the mainland offshore wind power industry and the rapid growth of installed capacity of domestic large-scale wind farms have become an important support for promoting the rapid development of the marine economy and new energy industry. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the scale of offshore wind power development plans issued by various places has reached 80 million kilowatts, and it is predicted that the global wind power installed capacity will enter a stage of stable growth after 2023, and the cumulative installed capacity will exceed 200 million kilowatts by 2030. With the gradual saturation of offshore development, global offshore wind power will enter a stage of accelerated development in the next few years, greatly driving the development of related supply chains such as submarine cables, and the submarine cable industry has made great strides towards the deep sea area. The offshore wind power industry has a lot of room for development, and under this new historical opportunity, all upstream and downstream industries have accelerated their actions.
At the annual meeting, Jiang Chengzhi, secretary of the party committee, executive chairman of the board of directors, CEO and chairman of the industry of Far East Holding Group, said in an interview with authoritative media that Far East has always been very sure to do the business of submarine cables, combined with the long-term development trend, the demand for submarine cables will increase in the future, and the layout of submarine cables has very good prospects.
In fact, as early as 2002, Far East Cable entered the field of wind power and continued to cultivate in this field, making every effort to create wind power cables that meet various scenarios, and gradually formed a perfect power supply and distribution system solution to promote the high-quality development of offshore wind power.
Over the years, the wind power products developed by Far East Cable have won many honors such as "Single Champion of Manufacturing Industry" of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, "Top Ten Innovative Products" of China's Top 50 Wind Power Industry, and high-tech products, and have been highly recognized by the industry and the country.
At the beginning of 2023, the newly developed project of "high-voltage twist-resistant flexible cable for wind power generation with rated voltage 110kV (Um=126kV)" was recognized as the international leading level, which is another major breakthrough in the twist-resistant cable technology for offshore ultra-high-power wind turbines after Asia's first multi-core high-core high-voltage twist-resistant cable for offshore ultra-high power wind turbines. It is worth mentioning that the research and development of this technology will break through the technical bottleneck of offshore ultra-high power unit transmission system, and is the first technology at home and abroad. With excellent R&D strength, the project won the key R&D plan project of Jiangsu Province.
Relying on strong technical research and development and manufacturing strength, Far East Cable has become one of the largest wind power cable suppliers in China, and cooperates with and supplies foreign wind power manufacturers such as VESTAS, GE Wind Energy and Siemens Gamesa and domestic wind power manufacturers such as Goldwind Technology, Envision Energy, Guangdong Mingyang, Shanghai Electric and Yunda Wind Power. Related products have been applied in China, Chile, Spain, South Korea, the United States, India and other countries/regions, providing a strong guarantee for wind turbines.
In recent years, with the further deepening of energy policy, offshore wind power technology has become increasingly mature, and submarine cables have also entered a stage of accelerated development. In this context, Far East Cable continues to optimize the industrial layout and promote the in-depth development of submarine cable business. At the beginning of 2022, Far East Horizon invested 3 billion yuan in Rudong County, Jiangsu Province to build a marine submarine cable industrial base project, realizing 2,000 kilometers of photoelectric composite submarine cables and special submarine cables, 6,000 kilometers of submarine optical cables, providing various cable accessories and transmission engineering services, forming an industrial encirclement advantage, and is expected to be put into production in 2023.
