This ranking is not necessarily authoritative, but it is absolutely objective and realistic.
The strongest force in northern Myanmar should be the Kachin Army first. Kachin Independent Army (Kachin Independent Army, abbreviated as KIA), whose real name is "Kachin People's Liberation Army". It was established on February 5, 1961 as the armed forces of the Kachin Liberation Organization (Kachin Liberation Organization) under the Panglong Agreement (Panng Agreement) to realize the separation of Kachin State (Kachin in Myanmar, known as Jingpo in China) from Myanmar. The current control area covers an area of about 287 square kilometers, consists of 12 counties, and has a population of about 150,000. According to external statistics, the total strength of the Kachin Army does not exceed 15,000 people, divided into five brigades, plus various government workers, there are only more than 32,000; some say that there are only 8,000 people. However, there are two common sense errors, one is that the Kachin local government stipulates that men must become soldiers from the age of 13 and cannot be discharged from the army for life, even if they are not in the army in the future, they can only be regarded as "vacation", and they must return immediately if there is a war; Three of the five children in each household must join the army, two must join the army if there are three or four children, and one must join the army if there are two children; If there are no men, female soldiers are recruited. Second, Kachin is China's Jingpo people, and many Kachin and Jingpo people are very close, so in the conflicts between the Kachin army and the government army over the years, there are often Chinese Jingpo people. Moreover, because the Kachin Army has been in conflict and war with the Myanmar government army for a long time, the Kachin Army has been in a state of recruitment. According to the survey statistics of this author, the current Kachin Army has 10 brigade-level combat units with no less than 35,000 ginseng. Moreover, after so many years of conflict and battle with the Myanmar government army, the combat strength of the Kachin army has been greatly improved, the way the whole people are soldiers, the unity of special ethnic groups, and the military commander ability of this place in Kachin are among the best in Myanmar. Moreover, the domestically controlled jade industry, precious metals and precious wood and other resources can also ensure the supply of personnel and materials. Therefore, in the armed forces of northern Myanmar, the Kachin Army should rank first.
It should be followed by the United Wa State Army. The United Wa State Army, abbreviated: Wa United Army, according to general statistics, the total number of regular troops is about 30,000, headquartered in Pong Kham, Myanmar, and there is a military region on the Thai-Myanmar border in the south: the 171 Military Region, which is publicized as the largest ethnic local armed organization in Myanmar. The control area is 27,000 square kilometers, and the population is 600,000. The Wa State Army was built on divisions, and there were also independent regiments. At present, the independent combat capability should be about 8 divisions. The Wa State Army should have a high starting point, and its leaders often have a background in the Communist Party of Myanmar. Its troops are also based on the party's military building, and during its first generation of leaders, it should be the strongest armed in Myanmar! However, in today's first generation of leaders gradually aging, and the new generation of leaders is gradually second-generation, they have lost the iron-blooded ability of the first generation of leaders, and their armed forces have been alienated for many years, and they especially pursue economic interests. It has long been different from the bitter iron and blood of the Kachin Army. Its paper strength should be the first in northern Myanmar, after all, the population is large. However, the combat and military capabilities of the wheel should be far inferior to those of the Kachin Army at present.
In what followed was the courageous allies. Kokang is probably the most closely connected to the border with China, and the Kokang people are actually Burmese Chinese. The Kokang Allied Army, also known as the Burma National Democratic Alliance, controls the Kokang area where China handed over the country, with an area of more than 10,000 square kilometers and a population of about 150,000. The army numbered less than 10,000 people, and the abbreviation (MNDAA) had four combat brigade units. Its founder, Peng Jiasheng, was also from the Communist Party of Myanmar, and Peng was also a legendary figure when he was young. Therefore, one side can be divided and become the land lord of the other. Due to its size, as well as its focus on economic development in recent years and its focus on the construction of armed forces, today's combat capability has shown a downward trend compared with before.
The fourth should be the Northern Shan State Army. Northern Shan State Army, abbreviated SSA-N. The Northern Shan State Army of the Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) has about 5,000 troops. Organized into five combat brigades (actually only battalion size), the Northern Shan State Army controls the Third Special Region of Myanmar, also known as the Mountain Special Region, with a population of more than 50,000 people and an area of about 8,000 square kilometers. The fifth should be the Southern Shan State Army. The Southern Shan State Army controls most of southern Shan State, mainly stationed in the southern Myanmar-Thailand border area of Shan State, with a total strength of about 3,000 troops. The organization is three brigades, which actually has a combat capability of three battalions, controls about 3.5,000 square kilometers of land, and has a population of about 20,000.
The sixth, the Eastern Allied Army of Shan State, is the armed force of the Fourth Special Region of Shan State in Myanmar, referred to as the Meng La Army, which controls the eastern border of Shan State in Myanmar, adjacent to Laos in the east and connected to the Second Special Region (Wa State) of Shan State in the west, with a regular army of about 3,500 troops, about 2,500 militia personnel, and a regular army of 5 brigades, but still only a battalion-level combat capability. It controls about 4,000 square kilometers of land and has a population of about 45,000.
The seventh, the De'ang armed forces, is an autonomous ethnic armed force of the De'ang ethnic group, formerly known as the Banglong ethnic group, which has about 600,000 people in Myanmar, mainly distributed in 13 towns and districts along the plateau of Northern Shan State, with a land area of about 6,000 square kilometers and a population of about 80,000.
