A pair of loving Chinese spades
Last summer, I set up a delivery room for a unicorn fairy and successfully laid more than 30 eggs. This year, I want to try to decorate a warm delivery room for Chinese flat spades. I did my homework online first.
Get ready:
1, online shopping for wood, I bought two; this time only used one of them;
The quercus mushroom tree produces wood, about 20 cm long and 7 cm wide
Maple reishi produces wood
2. One feeding box;
3. Online shopping for two bags of fermented wood chips;
The feeding box has a volume of 20 liters, about 42 cm long, about 32 cm wide and about 25 cm high;
4. A number of bark and dry branches.
The delivery room has begun to be set up.
First, choose 2 shiitake mushroom oak trees and soak them in tap water. The first time I bought it, I felt that these few pieces of wood were soft and hard, not particularly soft, nor particularly hard.
The wood is just put into the water and will float up because it is very light. After about 20 minutes, gradually immerse yourself in the water. I soaked it for 1 hour because the 2 trees are thinner, so it doesn't take long. The draining took about 3 hours, and when I saw that there was no water dripping down, I took off the bark (the bark I used as a shelter for unicorns).
The wood is submerged in water
Drain excess water
The bark is kept in reserve
While soaking the wood, you can mix well with water to ferment the wood chips. First, pour 1 bag of fermented wood chips into the feeding box and add tap water to stir several times. When you use your hands to squeeze the wood chips that have been mixed with water, there is no water dripping down, you can form, and when you touch it, the wood chips will be mixed properly. Then, pour in the second bag of wood chips and stir well in the same way.
Pour in the 1st bag of wood chips
Hand kneading, no water dripping
Beetles, including spade nails and unicorns, the lower layer of the delivery room of fermented wood chips need to be pressed by hand, this part of the soil should be at least 5 cm thick, of course, the more soil the better, but if you keep and play, this thickness can be.
The lowest layer is at least 5 cm high after compaction
Pour in the 2nd bag of wood chips
Compaction
Then put the wood into the delivery room, bury it in a position flush with the remaining wood chips, and then poke a few holes in the wood, enough for the mother worm to climb in.
Put in the mother worm
The few trees I bought already had holes in them and were the right size. If the hole is small, you can poke it deeper with forceps. Water-soaked wood is soft and easy to handle.
After filling in 2 woods and wood chips, some bark and dry branches are added to prevent the spade from turning over, resulting in sudden death. Finally, put 1 insect jelly and put the male and female worms into the delivery room together. If the mother has been confirmed to have mated, the mother can also be placed in the delivery room alone, which is more conducive to the mother to lay eggs quietly. After the male insect mates, it will return to its ferocious state, and it is likely to trap the female insect to death.
Finally met
I arranged this delivery room, put 3 such production wood properly, but at the beginning there was no soaking 3, I used 2 first.
If the weather is hot, if the jelly is eaten slowly, it will be replaced in 2-3 days. In general, if the male and female worms are in the delivery room, basically one can be eaten every day, especially during the egg laying period of the female worm, the amount of food is also relatively large. If there is no jelly, bananas and other fruits can also be fed, but the juice is too rich in fruit, it is best not to feed, easy to attract mosquitoes. Feed the fruit, change it more frequently, change it every day, and keep the delivery room clean.
The overall effect of the settlement
Next, it's time to be patient. A month later, we'll see.
On the Internet, I saw a picture of the choice of wood produced by different beetle varieties for your reference.
