Buy a mini Xiaoice box and you're ok. You can search for "mini refrigerator" on a treasure to find your favorite one.
What needs to be said here is that in fact, this mini refrigerator generally only has a refrigeration function (some with a small freezing space), and we only need to refrigerate this function to store nematodes. Doesn't it feel like the mini Xiaoice box is perfectly designed for ratfish lovers to store nematodes?
My own practical experience down, the car type is not recommended. Because I myself have bought two kinds of car and mini freezers, the former is unstable when the outdoor temperature changes greatly.
The specific performance is that when the outdoor temperature decreases, the nematodes inside may be frozen, and when the outdoor temperature rises, the nematodes inside may hang up due to the lack of oxygen due to increased activity.
The last problem is the setting of the refrigeration temperature.
This needs to be adjusted according to actual experience, after all, the refrigerator is different from the refrigerator. My own exploration set is 5 degrees, the specific practice of the subject.
In practical experience, you can change the water once every 24-48 hours or more. This depends on the quality of the nematodes you buy.
The method of placing ice packs or ice cubes in the container where the nematodes are stored in the refrigerator is actually consistent with the refrigeration method, which reduces the activity of the nematodes by cooling down, thereby reducing their oxygen consumption.
2. Dry culture method
The so-called dry culture method refers to the water content after washing the nematodes clean, or leaving a thin layer of water.
The advantage of this method is that in addition to the container basically does not need to use foreign objects, the disadvantage is that the dependence on room temperature is relatively large. Temperatures above 30° are obviously inappropriate. Unless the amount is rarely stored in a wide-mouth container.
3. Living water method
Ask the canal to be as clear as promised, for there is a source of living water.
Living water means that water is dynamic, and the contact between water and air allows water to maintain a dissolved oxygen level that is not too low. The minimum threshold for oxygen needed to meet the nematodes will do. The specific common way is the overflow method and its various deformations, the essence is through the overflow and renewal of water to continuously provide water with higher oxygen content to meet the consumption of oxygen by nematodes.
4. Feeding method
The so-called breeding is to use the nematodes as the breeding object, and to raise and reproduce normally in the tank specially designed for the nematodes.
The key to this problem lies in the setting of the filtering method. Because it is a low water level, I want to find a way to set the appropriate filtration. For aquatic practitioners, this is definitely a very good problem to solve and at the same time very scientific. Once talked to a friend who specialized in ornamental fish breeding in aquatic products, he said a set of professional disinfection methods very easily, because the names of the three drugs were too awkward to remember. In short, it is to treat the nematodes clean from the inside out.
Speaking of which, in fact, it is not difficult to find that ornamental fish breeding itself is their own job for professional aquaculturists, and it is an interest for enthusiasts, whether it is developed as a side business or not. As the saying goes, don't challenge other people's jobs with your own interests.
Therefore, the disinfection method mentioned in this article only refers to the common basic operations of aquarists. In fact, from the perspective of aquarists, the best way to deal with nematodes is to directly purchase captive breeding or have been cleaned.
1. Ozone method
This method is recommended by aquaters, and here we must strongly thank a wave.
The specific operation is to rinse the nematodes several times and plug in the ozone machine for half an hour. It can achieve a certain disinfection and sterilization effect. This operation is simple and easy to operate, and has very good practicality.
2. Medicinal bath method
Commonly used drugs are: metronidazole, haloperid acid (amoxicillin), gentamicin, allicin and so on.
Specific use: Generally after rinsing the nematodes several times, add the above drugs in an appropriate amount. The specific dosage I usually use is a pound of nematodes small half a basin of water into two capsules. According to the room temperature, the high temperature shortens the medication time, and the low temperature can extend the medication time depending on the situation. Then rinse and refrigerate. Allicin needs to be used according to the instructions, after using allicin, the nematode spits out the mud obviously, and the water can be strengthened.
3. Elution method
The so-called elution is to dilute the sludge outside the nematodes through continuous cleaning. After about a dozen times, you can feed it on your own.
The principle of this practice is the consensus of everyone: the stomach of the rat fish is very strong. What bacteria, what poison, for ratfish does not exist. If you dare to feed it, you dare to live, and you dare to die of the bold, and you will starve the timid. In fact, this practice may not see any problems in the short term for adult ratfish, but in the long run, bulging eye bubbling cysts and so on will come as scheduled.
For juvenile fish, nematodes can play a short-term effect of fattening, but in the long run, feeding before the gastrointestinal development is complete is likely to lay the root of the internal mail for the juveniles. While the juveniles absorb the nutrients of the nematode, they also become the host of the parasite themselves.
At the same time, the juvenile fish fed nematodes for a long time are generally not cold to feed or frozen food, resulting in a single nutrient intake, and they show a concave belly and loss of appetite in the early stage of Sub-adulthood. In fact, it is eaten badly.
For individual players, especially for ornamental-oriented ratfish lovers, I think nematodes are really not a good choice. One is the need for a series of riotous operations such as disinfection treatment, and the other is to bother to save the nematodes, buy a refrigerator or change the water until it collapses.
What did you raise fish for in the first place? Is it to run for fish food? Shouldn't fish farming itself be easy and elegant and full of leisure? If it is systematic reproduction, it is a different matter. Because nematodes are really helpful for the reproduction of ratfish, pay attention to it, it is very large.
