The report pointed out that IU's six songs "Pink High Heels", "Good Day", "BBIBBI", "Good Pitiful", "Boo" and "Celebrity" are suspected of plagiarizing works at home and abroad.
The whistleblower A (not the original author, just a netizen) revealed in an interview that the police reported IU to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on May 8 on suspicion of violating the Copyright Law.
The complaint points out that IU songs have many similarities with the melody, rhythm, chords, etc. of the original work, especially "Good Day" and "Pink High Heels", which sound similar to other people's songs.
It turned out that as early as 2013, the German band Nekta accused their "Here's us" of being plagiarized by IU, and sent an email to the agency at that time, but there was no reply.
The whistleblower said that although it was suspected of plagiarism many times, IU refused to admit it, did not give any explanation, and also asked major platforms to delete relevant rights protection and reporting posts, feeling that the public's awareness of copyright was insufficient, so he decided to report IU, pointing out that IU was very negative about plagiarism and the amount of damages, which was disappointing.
South Korean law states that a whistleblower must be present for a violation of the Copyright Act, so the target of plagiarism must be prosecuted in court.
This matter was reported by a third party (netizens), but the South Korean police acted resolutely, first made IU's plagiarism public, and summoned the infringing original author to stand up for his rights.
