Today I want to take you to know about the vertebrate • Blue Singing Plover.

Blue SongBird (qú)
Luscinia cyane
Vertebrates, ornithischia, passeriformes, Grebes, Singingbirds. Aliases Black Wife, Blue Indigo Bar, Blue Tail Root, Blue Plover, Light Tail, Little Glass. It inhabits the ground or near the ground of dense forests, and feeds mainly on small insects, and is distributed in many parts of the country.
The Blue SongBird is a small and medium-sized bird with a body length of about 14 cm, and the male and female birds have a certain distinction in body color. The male has a bluestone blue upperpart, a black eye stripe on the eye area, and a white abdomen and underparts. Females have olive-brown upperparts , a brown throat and thorax with yellow scaly markings , and blue coverts at the waist and above the tail.
Speaking of this, friends should be able to see that the blue singing plover in the painting is not a "couple", but a pair of "brothers".
In people's minds, the nests of small and medium-sized birds are generally built in trees or rock crevices on cliffs, but the blue songbird is a "different kind". Studies have found that the nest of the blue songbird is deep in the dense forest, generally choosing to be in the hollow under the dead branch and leaf layer at the base of the large tree or in the mossy bush at the base of the rock, and some in the soil cliff wall cave, the nest is extremely hidden.
The nest begins in late May to the end of May every year, the nest is bowl-shaped, the outer wall of the nest is composed of leaves, fine dead branches, pine needles, hay and moss, the inner wall of the nest is composed of petioles, fine grass stems, and the nest bedding is mainly hay. After the nest is built, the parent birds begin to mate and breed, and generally a nest can lay 5-6 eggs.
Because the nest is built on the ground, in order to adapt to the cruel natural competition, the chicks of the blue songbird only need 13-15 days to leave the nest after breaking the shell, and in the process, only the female birds breed the chicks.
The female is unusually alert during the brooding process, and will carefully observe the surrounding environment every time she comes back from eating, and in order to ensure the safety of the nest and the chicks, she will change various angles and directions to enter the nest.
The Blue Song Plover also has a major feature, which is reflected in its name, that is, it is born "Song King". The blue songbird belongs to the songbird, the male bird can make a pleasant call, whenever the courtship season, the male bird will "sing a song" for his sweetheart, the call is moving and gentle. In addition to "singing love songs", the blue song bird male bird is also good at learning the sounds of other species, and belongs to the songbirds in the songbird.
However, because of their pleasant calls and beautiful plumage, some criminals have caught male birds in large numbers, making the blue songbird an illegal caged bird, resulting in a significant decline in wild populations.
In fact, the best love is protection. Let's protect the ecological environment together and protect the Blue Singing Plover.

Thanks for having you! See you next year!
Dear Friends,
Today is the last issue of the "Beautiful Yunnan Biodiversity Encyclopedia" in 2020.
Last December, when we learned that the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) would be held in Yunnan, we hoped that through a publicity method, more people would understand Yunnan's advantages in biodiversity and why the first conference in China was held in Yunnan.
How to carry out effective publicity, we believe that beauty is one of the most effective ways.
Through the discussion, we came up with the idea of opening a column "Beautiful Yunnan Biodiversity Encyclopedia", on December 25, 2019, we visited Mr. Zeng Xiaolian, a famous plant painter and senior engineer of the Kunming Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and learned of our intentions, and Zeng Lao gave us great support and authorized us to use all the works of "Yunnan Flowers" and "Yunnan Birds" painted by him. It is precisely for this reason that today we choose the blue song of Zeng Lao's work to express our most sincere thanks to Mr. Zeng Xiaolian!
Since the end of new year's Day this year, we have selected and launched a total of 181 issues of Yunnan species, in the learning of the strong country, Yunnan release, Yunnan Provincial People's Government network public number, Yunnan network push, the cumulative reading volume of nearly 30 million, attracted a group of loyal fans, completed the "encyclopedia" mission.
Because the team members do not have relevant disciplinary backgrounds, underestimating the scientific and interesting nature of biodiversity, the rigorous science of biodiversity can be widely disseminated and popularized in a way that everyone likes to hear, which is inseparable from the support given by the following units and individuals.
Thank you to the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Kunming Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Southwest Forestry University for their support!
Thank you to the Gaoligong mountain national nature reserve management and protection bureau (Lushui pipe protection sub-bureau, Baoshan management and protection sub-bureau), Baima Snow Mountain National Nature Reserve management and protection bureau, Xishuangbanna national nature reserve management and protection bureau, Baoshan Qinghuahai National Wetland Park, Yuxi Fuxian Lake Management Bureau for our support!
Thank you to the Office of the Leading Group for the Preparatory Work of Yunnan Province for the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity for their continued support and encouragement!
Knowledge is a force. The magic of nature needs to be interpreted. The identification of each species and the story behind the species need to be understood in an equal and scientific manner.

You are the ones who help us into the magical world of natural science.
Beauty is a kind of strength. The beauty of living things touches people's hearts.
The wonderful beauty of the 181 species comes from the photographer's efforts. In the depths of the dense forest where mosquitoes bite, on the flowing rock beach at an altitude of 5,000 meters, and in the inaccessible deep mountains and valleys, they recorded the wonderful of different species with the camera, and together we most intuitively understood the beauty of Yunnan's biodiversity and why people and nature should live in harmony.
Here, special thanks to ecological photographer Fan Yi, ecological photographer Peng Jiansheng, natural image Chinese photographer Zheng Shanhe, nature photographer Zuo Lingren, member of Yunnan Photographers Association Zhang Wei, natural ecological photographer Cheng Bin, nature photographer Zuo Lingren, Dong Lei of School of Architecture and Design of Southwest Jiaotong University, Wang Bin of Lushui Pipe Protection Branch of Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve, Qian Mingfu, member of Yunnan Photographers Association, Wang Ying, ecological photographer, Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve Baoshan Pipe and Protection Branch Gao Ge, Baoshan Qinghuahai National Wetland Park Duan Honglian, Baoshan Qinghuahai National Wetland Park Qian Wen, Yunnan Taxation Art Editor Zhao Yinan, nature photography enthusiast Liu Jinan, photography enthusiast Duan Jian, snail enthusiast Liu Baogang, to provide this column with exquisite photos of Yunnan species.
