Travelling to London with your family to see an F1 exhibition?

F1 bosses have contacted the Westminster City Council in central London this summer about the possibility of hosting a race in central London and have worked together to discuss a possible street performance plan.

A number of ideas have recently been proposed, including a race on the streets of the British capital to involve more families. The idea is to host a one-day event on 16 July, a week before the British Grand Prix. However, due to the tight time constraints, the plan has not yet been put on the formal agenda or will be difficult to achieve.

A Westminster Council spokesperson revealed: "Officials from the City of Greater London and Westminster City Council have negotiated with the organisers about the possibility of holding a performance event in central London, not a match. The current discussions are still in their infancy and no consensus has been reached. ”

According to Motorsport, parliament is currently preparing a feedback report for F1 bosses that will explain what is feasible. If the vision of the exhibition race gets the green light, it will be the first similar event since 8 teams raced between Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus in 2004.

Similar issues have been discussed many times, but in the end they have not been translated into reality. But just last month, the British parliament passed an amendment to the road traffic law that simplifies the road closure process required to hold a racing event in the UK. Previously, any activity that required the closure of roads required approval by Congress, but now the right to block roads is transferred to motorsport associations and local councils.
