Thailand's New Thai Daily News Thai media reported that a few days ago, the Thai National Park Wildlife Conservation Department posted on the official Facebook page to popularize the knowledge of parrotfish and call on the Thai people and tourists to protect marine life and protect the marine ecological environment.
According to the Wildlife Conservation Agency, the parrotfish is a small and medium-sized fish that often lives around coral groups and can clean up the coral group environment and maintain the ecology of coral groups. However, many people have recently begun to fish for parrotfish because of their gorgeous appearance and use it for cooking, so the number of parrotfish has been greatly reduced, which will also lead to changes in marine ecology, coral population ecology will be difficult to recover, if the red tide ocean water temperature rises, etc., coral populations may not be able to recover or even die. Therefore, I hope that everyone can work together to resist the fishing, purchase and consumption of parrotfish, and if illegal fishing of parrotfish is found in the national park waters, I hope that everyone can report it in time.
Thailand's National Wildlife Conservation Agency announced in August 2015 that the destruction or injury of all animals is prohibited in the national park area. In the event of a violation, under sections 16(3), 21 and 16 of the National Parks Act 1961, national park staff have the right to evict violators of wildlife harm from the national park area or restrict their activities in the national park area, and those who behave badly may face up to 5 years' imprisonment or a fine of not more than 20,000 baht or both.
