Leptopsammia pruvoti, a sunset cup coral, is a solitary stony coral of the Family Dendrophylliidae. It is azole-like substance, meaning that its tissues do not contain symbiotic single-celled algae of the genus Zoontium, as do most corals. It is native to the Mediterranean. The species was described by Henri de Lacaze-Duthiers in 1897 and named after French marine biologist Georges Pruvot.

Leptopsammia pruvoti is an isolated stony coral that looks outwardly like a sea anemone . The polyps are located in a calcareous cup, the bottom is wider than the top, and its shape changes from cylindrical to short conical and long shapes. It grows to a height of about 60 mm (2.4 in) and a diameter of 20 mm (0.8 in). The polyps are yellow or orange, with about 96 long and translucent yellow tentacles . It retracts back into the skeleton cup, making the tentacles almost invisible. This species can be confused with another yellow or orange cup coral, Balanophyllia regia, but this species has never become so large and has few tentacles.

Leptopsammia pruvoti is located in the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea as well as on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, Brittany, the Channel Islands and southwest England. It is not exposed to sunlight, but is under boulders, on bedrock, in cracks, under overhangs and in caves, at depths between 10 and 40 meters (33 and 131 feet).

In a sea cave in Italy, colonial corals Astroides calycularis were noted to be abundant in well-lit places, but became less in the darker parts of the cave, while L. Astor. Pruvoti became more abundant in dark locations. However, where sulfurous springs mix with seawater, the condition is turned, and Astroides calycularis are more common. The relative proportions of these two species may be affected by the presence of sulfur-digesting bacterial pads around spring.
