About 15 kilometers southeast of Beihai City, you will arrive at the Golden Bay Mangrove Forest, known as the "Sea Forest", which is part of the Beihai Silver Beach.
In our inherent impression, the woods should be high in the sky, but we did not expect that the mangroves of the Golden Bay grow in a large wetland, and the shrubs are as green as the sea, guarding this endless ocean.
Looking at the mangrove landscape boardwalk, more than 3,000 acres of "sea forest" lush in the sun, as a unique woody birthing plant, mangrove propagation method is very special, it is said that the seeds of mangrove trees do not fall after maturity, but germinate on the mother tree, stretch down the young roots, grow the fetal roots into stems, and the upper end grows two leaves, so it becomes a small mangrove tree. When they become mangroves, they will fall off the mother tree and grow alone, but it will take decades or even hundreds of years to grow into the strong and lush branches in front of them.
There is a distinctly tall and dense mangrove tree over there, which seems to grow better than other mangroves, and for my reason, the scenic docent said that this is an exotic species, cultivated artificially for a few years, and the rate of reproduction and density far exceeds that of native mangroves. I said, how can it not be more than that? She laughed and said that because of the rapid reproduction rate and ferocious growth of this alien tree species, she was worried about devouring the native species, so it could no longer be planted, and the native species should be protected, otherwise the consequences would be serious. Once the native mangrove trees become extinct, it will be catastrophic.
Indeed, any living thing must follow the laws and regional properties of nature, and alien species are not suppressed by natural enemies, perhaps flooded.
For example, we know that trees will be drowned in the water for a long time, but this is not the case in mangroves, they are not only unable to absorb the water and nutrients in the soil, but will regenerate the water in the body, this unique function, so that mangroves can grow and reproduce in marine wetlands. Mature mangroves are leafy and have a well-developed root system, which can also form a natural barrier against wind and waves and protect the seawall. The leaves and wood chips they drop can also be converted into feed for shallow wetland creatures such as fish, shrimp, shellfish and crabs, making it the perfect food ecological chain.
And on the muddy swamp of the wetland, from time to time you can see the unique marine life here - "single-clawed crab". I gave it this name, and its scientific name is Chaochao Crab, because they only have one pincer, so I call it "single-claw crab". It is said that this single pliers is mainly used to intimidate enemies and courtship, growing on the left or right side, and they use the tongs as a hand to ingest food or fight. But their whole body color is like a roasted hue, do you want to eat it?
What is even more amazing is that this single claw is like a gecko's tail, once broken, it can regenerate, and if the large claws are caught by the opponent, they will immediately "break their arms to survive".
This is also the home of jumping fish, the scientific name of the jumping fish is mudskipper, it is said that they are geniuses among fish, they can climb to big trees, usually only live in mangrove mud swamps or branches, not in the water for a lifetime, if the tide rises, they hide in the trees, but strangely, if so, simply don't call the fish, call a monkey is not more appropriate.
There are a lot of mudskippers, covered in mud, crawling around on the mud. Unfortunately, my camera focus is a bit short, and the fish's body is full of mud, which is difficult to distinguish from the mud paint, and the silhouette of the fish can hardly be seen in the photos taken.
According to the narrator, mangroves are unique landscapes between land and sea, and are rare marine biodiversity reserves in China, with hundreds of species of birds, insects, shellfish, fish, shrimps, crabs and other organisms breeding and inhabiting here - what a harmonious and beautiful picture, where all kinds of natural creatures live in peace and coexist, and people come here to enjoy the poetic picture of flocks of birds flying in the sky, blue sky and blue sea, red sun and white sand.
If you come here in the evening, you can enjoy the beautiful feast of "the sunset and the lone bird flying together, and the autumn water is long and colorful". When I came, it was the afternoon when the sun was shining, after a tour, I drove away, many times, we still need some fate with the beautiful scenery, we can only look at the current scenery, can not wait until dusk to see a beautiful feast.
On the way back, I saw several Zhuang aunts, wearing bucket hats, walking barefoot on the road, shouldering flat burdens, which were tools like nail rakes, and the people who accompanied them said that they were sea chasers, digging sandworms on the beach not far from the mangroves. "Sandworms look like an intestine, and they're delicious." Friends said that also known as sea ginseng, there is no shark fin abalone, but the taste is delicious and crisp, is the sea cucumber shark fin can not reach the delicious.
The first time I knew about the creature of sandworm, I came back to check it out, and found that this creature is extremely harsh on the living environment, and it seems that there can be no industrial pollution, otherwise it cannot survive, which can be called "environmental marker organism", which shows how good the ecology here is.
