Distinguished guests,

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is a pleasure to participate in the "New Era Lecture Hall" event. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 50th anniversary of the Restoration of the People's Republic of China to its legitimate seat in the United Nations. Over the past 100 years, the communist party of China has led the Chinese people to make outstanding contributions to safeguarding world peace and promoting human development and progress while striving for national independence and national prosperity.

In 1945, China became a founding member of the United Nations and was the first country to sign the Charter of the United Nations. Fifty years ago, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 2758, which decided to restore the legitimate seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations. This epoch-making event has greatly enhanced the universality, representativeness and authority of the United Nations and opened a new stage in China's foreign relations. Since then, China has made great efforts and important contributions to the realization of the ideals of the United Nations and the promotion of human development and progress.

Over the past 50 years, China has firmly upheld the international order with the purposes and principles of the CHARTER at its core, and together with the vast number of developing countries, has played an increasingly important role in UN affairs. On the issue of peace and security, China actively promotes the peaceful settlement of disputes and conflicts. China has become the country that sends the largest number of peacekeepers among the permanent members of the Security Council and is the second largest contributor to the United Nations and United Nations peacekeeping operations. China has made unremitting efforts to promote global common development. China achieved the poverty eradication target set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule. China's multifaceted participation in development assistance has become a natural leader in South-South cooperation. China has also proposed the Belt and Road Initiative to promote common development. China has made remarkable achievements in the promotion and protection of human rights. China has actively participated in the work of the United Nations human rights bodies and promoted the formulation of international human rights instruments, thus playing an important role in promoting constructive dialogue and cooperation in the field of international human rights. In the face of global challenges such as climate change, China has actively promoted the conclusion of the Paris Agreement, put forward the goals of "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality", and proposed new measures for nationally determined contributions.

At present, mankind is facing the dual challenges of the unprecedented changes in a century and the sudden outbreak of new crown pneumonia. China has actively carried out international cooperation against the epidemic and fulfilled its commitment to making Chinese vaccines a global public good. China has provided more than 1.2 billion doses of vaccines and stock solutions to more than 100 countries and international organizations, and strives to provide 2 billion doses of vaccines to the world by the end of this year. Like all responsible countries in the world, China actively contributes wisdom and strength to UN-led global governance. President Xi Jinping put forward the "Global Development Initiative" in the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, calling on the international community to accelerate the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, promote stronger, greener and healthier global development, and build a community with a shared future for mankind. This major initiative provides a blueprint for national development and international development cooperation.

The world today is standing at a new historical starting point. Looking ahead, China will continue to practice true multilateralism. China will continue to actively participate in the reform and construction of the global governance system, resolutely support the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, and firmly safeguard the central role of the United Nations in international affairs. Chinese people will continue to work with the "people of the United Nations" to uphold the original intention of the UN Charter, enhance confidence, work together to meet challenges, jointly build peace and stability, and seek common development. The road of cooperation between China and the United Nations is bound to become wider and wider.

Finally, I wish the "New Era Lecture Hall" event a complete success!

Thank you!
