Experts believe that this means that the species has not yet become extinct on the earth, and the rediscovery of the David amphibian also shows that the province has achieved results in strengthening species protection and ecological restoration after the Lushan earthquake.

Sichuan forestry experts told reporters that David amphibians are endemic to China and are only produced in Baoxing County. In 2014, Sichuan launched the "Baoxing County David Amphibian Armor Protection Project", which is an important part of the protection of rare and endangered wild animals in the Lushan Earthquake Reconstruction Ecological Restoration Project, aiming to carry out species surveys, build protection facilities, restore earthquake-damaged habitats, and comprehensively strengthen the protection of David's amphibians. Since the launch of the project, it has been more than a year of groping, until May this year, the investigators finally found David amphibious armor.
