Xinhua Network Sichuan Channel, May 27 (This network reporter Zhou Xiangji) reporters learned from the Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department on the 27th that after 20 years, the Amphizoa davidi Lucas, which can be called the "living fossil" of insects, was once again found in Baoxing County, Ya'an City, The province. Previously, David amphibians were discovered by experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Baoxing County in 1995.

Experts believe that this means that the species has not yet become extinct on the earth, and the rediscovery of the David amphibian also shows that the province has achieved results in strengthening species protection and ecological restoration after the Lushan earthquake.

Sichuan forestry experts told reporters that David amphibians are endemic to China and are only produced in Baoxing County. In 2014, Sichuan launched the "Baoxing County David Amphibian Armor Protection Project", which is an important part of the protection of rare and endangered wild animals in the Lushan Earthquake Reconstruction Ecological Restoration Project, aiming to carry out species surveys, build protection facilities, restore earthquake-damaged habitats, and comprehensively strengthen the protection of David's amphibians. Since the launch of the project, it has been more than a year of groping, until May this year, the investigators finally found David amphibious armor.

【Explanation of terms】

David amphibian armor was originally collected by Father David who discovered the giant panda in Baoxing in 1870, by the French scientist Lucas (Lucas) named the species David amphibian nail, taxonomically belongs to the insect class Coleoptera amphibian carapaceae, amphibian A genus, is a national protection of beneficial or has important economic and scientific research value ("three have") wild animals, is currently known only distributed in Baoxing County, the number is very rare. David's amphibians are semi-aquatic creatures that cannot live without water, living only by the cold rivers and streams under the mountains, carnivorous, and feeding on the larvae of other insects in the water.
