The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan met with the Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization

China News Service Astana, March 5 -- Kazakh Prime Minister Mamin met with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) at the Astana Prime Minister's Office on 5 March local time.

According to the official website of the Kazakh Prime Minister's Office, the two sides discussed a series of cooperation issues during the talks and exchanged views on Kazakhstan's implementation of the WTO trade facilitation agreement.

Ma Ming said that in order to implement the WTO trade facilitation agreement, Kazakhstan has carried out relevant legislative reforms. According to him, in January 2018, new provisions of the Customs Law of the Eurasian Economic Union and Kazakhstan came into force. Since January 2018, Kazakhstan has implemented electronic customs declaration within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.

MaMin pointed out that Kazakhstan plans to implement the establishment of a single window for international trade jointly with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in March, and the Kazakh government will continue to work to learn from and introduce successful international experience in the field of customs management.

Ma Ming revealed that at present, Kazakhstan is gradually upgrading the modernization of border checkpoints, and plans to use innovative technology to build a new "Bright Road" crossing point on the border between Kazakhstan and China to simplify the customs clearance process.

Since joining the World Customs Organization on June 30, 1992, Kazakhstan has actively participated in the work of the organization's main bodies such as the Council and policy committees. Kazakhstan is currently a member of the Policy Committee of the World Customs Organization for a term of office until 1 July 2019. The WCO will consider Kazakhstan's accession to the WCO Finance Committee in June 2019.

Michi kuniyoshi said that he was very interested in the cooperation between the two sides in the field of transit transport mentioned by Kazakhstan and that measures should be taken to simplify transit transport procedures. (End)
