"When thunderstorms occur frequently, there will be hidden dangers of lightning strike problems in many places such as telephone poles, broadcast signal towers, 5G base stations, and grounding poles along railway lines, and the 'new lightning protection device quality detector' produced by our team will come in handy." Team leader Li Mingjun introduced.

It is reported that the team relies on adaptive current excitation algorithm, current ladder switching algorithm and battery fine management algorithm to develop this new lightning detector. The device has been handed over to Yangzhou Huafeng Lightning Protection New Technology Co., Ltd. in the early stage of the high-speed rail Guangzhou section, Nanchang section, Huizhou section and other places put into use, the service mileage reached 1600 kilometers, monitoring communication base station 230, the use of good effect.

"The device reduces the probability of lightning strikes by our company's lightning protection products by 15%, and the cost is only about 1/4 of the lightning protection products, which is low cost, economical and social benefits, which is a good example of industry-university-research cooperation." The project has applied for two invention patents, and won the second prize of the 17th "Challenge Cup" National Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition for College Students this summer in Jiangsu Province.

Team instructor Jiang Wei told reporters that the team will combine the cloud database monitoring system in the later stage to send the data of each lightning protection device to the mobile client "Zhi'an Tianxia" APP through 5G data transmission technology, and efficiently and conveniently realize the cloud data collection and feedback of the embedded "Zhi'an Tianxia" detector.

At the same time, the team will extend the scope of research to railway lines in the western region, study the key technologies of lightning protection of railway signaling systems, and use the knowledge learned to help the construction of the Belt and Road.
