Jointly organised by the government and the private sector, including the Ministry of Culture, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Chamber of Commerce and other units, the Songkran Festival 2023 is the only Songkran celebration held in Thailand on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, and this year's theme is "Blooming", symbolizing happiness, new beginnings and reunion.

Yesterday (11th), Thailand's new-generation mixed-race actress Yaya (Urassaya Sperbund) served as the 2023 Songkran goddess Kimita Devi, leading the parade to kick off the "2023 Siam Heaven and Earth Songkran Carnival" event.

In addition, the Miss Pageant Parade on April 13 will be led by Amanda (Chalisa Obdam), winner of the 69th Miss Universe Thailand 2020. She will be dressed by Dr. Surat Jongda's elaborate royal attire from the Sukhothai era and wearing exquisite jewellery and accessories to resemble an ancient queen.

Visitors can also attend a Buddhist worship ceremony at ICONSIAM's Rassada Hall on the 1st floor, where they shower the Buddha statue from Saraphatnuek Temple in Ubon Ratchathani with Thai aromatic purified water, symbolizing the purification of the Buddha body and body and mind.

Thailand's Songkran festival has been inscribed on UNESCO's preliminary list of Intangible Cultural Heritage and will be evaluated at the Organizing Meeting at the end of this year, and if approved, it will be Thailand's fourth Intangible Cultural Heritage.
