How July Came About in English

At the behest of the roman commander and political leader Mark Antony, the name of July was named after Julius Caesar.

Gaius Julius Caesar (12 July 100 BC – 15 March 44 BC) was known as Julius Caesar the Great.

He was gifted and loved ancient Greek culture, especially Greek classical literature. In addition to literature, Caesar also liked sports, he was proficient in horseback riding, swordplay, etc., muscular, very strong physique.

It is recorded that Caesar was calm and introverted in his handling of military and administrative affairs, conscientious and rigorous; he spoke decently and gracefully in discussion; and he was generous and benevolent and cheerful in his dealings with the world. But Caesar was also more dictatorial, thirsting for knowledge and great things.

He laid a good foundation for the founding of the Roman Empire, defeated the Gaulle barbarians, and defeated his main rival Pompey as a Roman dictator.

He died at the age of 58 by a political enemy. And the political enemies who assassinated him all died within three years, which is surprising. Caesar was later included in the ranks of the gods by decree and was revered as "Holy Julius".

The Romans honored Caesar by his name, julius in Gaius Julius Caesar, in which jules changed the name to July (because Caesar was born in July).
