This large numbering jump is usually caused by designers adding a lot of undisclosed content to the game.

Each custom option has its own number, and normally each new option is incremented by one relative to the previous one. Such a huge jump in character customization-related entries is likely to add new races or add a lot of customization to existing races.

There have been several numbering jumps in character customization entries throughout history, including artifact appearances/druid forms, human customization options, and demon hunters/mechanical gnomes joining.

The most recent jump was also discovered by Simaia, with an anomalous jump of 3000+ spans in 9.1.5, which is more than enough to add all customization options for a whole new race or replace many cosmetic options of an existing race.

With the update of the game version, this phenomenon reappeared in 9.2, which had 2000+ and 7000+ number jumps, which turned out to be due to the development of 10.0 adding the Dragon Hill race and the dragon trainer mount phantom.
