When you come to Hangzhou, most people in the scenic area will think of West Lake, this is undoubted. And the ancient street, most people first think of Hefang Street, in fact, there are many ancient streets in Hangzhou, just next to Hefang Street, there is an ancient street that I think is more worth visiting than Hefang Street - Southern Song Royal Street. I happened to go to Hangzhou and went there. Although this street is not long, the ancient buildings on both sides of the street are well preserved, and there are ruins of the ancient streets of the Southern Song Dynasty. At the end of this ancient street, there is a temple that combines Chinese and Western - Phoenix Temple, which I think is very distinctive. Let's take a few pictures for you to see.
The Phoenix Temple, also known as the "Zhenjiao Temple", is one of the four ancient mosques of Islam in coastal China (the other three are the Xianhe Temple in Yangzhou, the Qingjing Temple in Quanzhou and the Huaisheng Temple in Guangzhou), and it is also well-known in Arab countries. Phoenix Temple is a mosque, so named because the temple structure resembles a phoenix spreading its wings. The main hall of the temple is the oldest building. The main hall does not have beams. On the top of the hall, there are three spires, which are relics of the Song Dynasty. The middle one is engraved with the text of the Koran, which is said to have been set up when it was rebuilt in the second year of Myeonggyeongtai (1451). The temple also preserves Arabic inscriptions such as the tombstone of Alaudin. The temple has a long history, it was founded in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and destroyed by the Song Dynasty (960-1279). In 1281, the famous Islamic figure of the Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368) Ah Laodin began to rebuild, and the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) expanded and rebuilt again between 1451 and 1493, finally forming the scale of the Phoenix Temple. In 1646, the Qing government ordered it to be rebuilt again, making it one of the largest mosques in China at the time. After major repairs in 1953, it has been preserved and listed as "Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Zhejiang Province" in 1961.
There are friends who travel to Hangzhou, and there is time to go to the Southern Song Royal Street, which is easy to overlook, to take a look, go to the Phoenix Temple to see, compared with the hustle and bustle of Hefang Street, I think you will have another different experience.
