This column should become a series of worldviews and details that I think about in my work and daily life. Some are the backstory of existing games, others are my own magical system, reflections on the change of a different world's culture, or a simple character, a rambling. Maybe these words can help others, who knows?
The following calendar is the calendar of the Islands Empire.
A year in the calendar of the Empire of the Islands consists of 13 months, each fixed at 28 days, and the year has 364 days. 13 months have their own names:
January is the month of the earth
February is the month of harvest
March is the month of snares
April is the month of manna
May is the month of the wind
June is a dark moon
July is the month of the Great Chill
August is the month of ice crystals
September is the month of the hearth
October Sowing Month
November is the month of timber
December Clan Month
March is the month of music
After the end of the 28th of the month of music, it is not a new year, but a time of fugue feast, a time of ambiguous length that does not exist in official records. During this time, everything that people do has little legal consequences. The end of the fugue feast depends on the observation of special astrological signs representing the beginning of the new year observed by the monasteries of the religious beings of all living beings, and the new year continues from the 1st of the earth month after the monasteries announce the end of the feast by means of a hymn of atonement. In general, a fugue feast does not last more than 2 days.
The following is a traceable historical record of the Empire of the Islands.
The islands and the continent of Pandhia
The Empire of the Isles was a constitutional monarchy consisting of four large islands, Tivia, Morley, Gristo, and Sokonos. The four islands have their own governing bodies and supreme leaders, which enjoy a great deal of autonomy, but are all under the orders of the emperor or empress. The capital of the empire was the city of Dunwall on the island of Gristo, and the form of government was a parliamentary cabinet system. Although the empire had a parliament and a cabinet, the emperor or empress was very powerful and could often influence the opinions of these ruling departments to make their own decisions. Outside the formal political system, the imperial aristocracy and other members of high society often exerted pressure on the royal family through their economic and religious influence, influencing decision-making to some extent.
The history of the Empire of the Islands dates back to 1625. Until then, the four islands had been fighting for many years under the leadership of their respective leaders, known as the "War of the Four Kings". The distant past before the Battle of the Four Kings is rarely documented. At the end of the War of the Four Kings, the war situation was already deadlocked, and everyone was looking forward to peace. On the 14th of the month of 1625, the Battle of the Four Kings finally ended with the reconciliation of the leaders, and the islands formed a loose union that lasted for about one year. On 2 December 1626, Finlay Morgengaard I was proclaimed king in the city of Dunwall on the island of Gristo, becoming the first emperor of the island empire. On the 26th of the same year, Morgengaard I ordered the formation of a parliament that established the empire as a whole as a constitutional monarchy. The history of the Empire of the Islands officially begins.
The rule of the Mogengaard dynasty lasted 43 years. In 1669, the Reizeh family overthrew the Morgengaard dynasty through political struggle and established the Reizeher dynasty; But this usurper's dynasty lasted only 9 years, and Julien Morgengard regained the throne in 1678.
During Hulien's reign, the religious monastery founded by Benjamin Holger began to absorb believers on a large scale, and received Hulien's acquiescence and support. In 1701, Holger's successor, John Cleverlin, began construction of a monastery in Dunwall. This marked the beginning of the monastic faith of living beings taking root in the center of the island empire.
In 1705, imperial power passed to Yefam Olaska. It marked the official end of the Morgengaard dynasty and the beginning of the reign of the Oraska dynasty. In the same year, the newly crowned Yefam authorized Clairin to raise his own religious army and wage the "War of Rectification", a religious war aimed at purging the empire of other religions, especially heretical sects that believed in the Void Outer Gods. The Battle of Remediation lasted until the famous Siege of White Cliffs in 1708. The monastic armies of the entire empire gathered and launched a general attack on the small island White Cliffs east of Dunwall and southeast of the entire island of Gristo. During the siege of White Cliffs, Holger, the founder of the Convent of Living Beings, was tragically killed, but they eventually won a bitter victory.
The Overseers of the Convent of Living Beings are the backbone of this religious organization
After the siege of White Cliff, the Monastery of Living Beings set up a stronghold on White Cliff, compiling the various great deeds of the battle and the prophecies that arose from it, and the Holy Book of the Monastery of Living Beings, The White Cliff Prayer, was written at this time. In the following month, such written records, along with numerous speeches, prayers, and holy words, were sent to Dunwall, and subsequently spread throughout the empire, and the fame of the monastery of all living beings was greatly enhanced. In 1711, Yefam ordered the monastery of all living beings to be the state religion of the empire. In the years that followed, the White Cliff stronghold developed into the religious city of White Cliff City, which is still a sacred place for all living beings' monasteries.
During the nearly hundred years of the Olaska dynasty's rule, the empire was at peace with each other, and even launched an exploration of the mysterious continent of Pandisia, beyond the distant seas southwest of the empire. But this period of peaceful development came to an abrupt end with the Morley Uprising on the 1st of the Great Cold Moon in 1801. The people at the bottom of Morley Island were oppressed by the local gentry and aristocracy for many years, and in the nearly 200 years since they joined the empire, the trade wealth enjoyed by Morley Island was squandered by these vampires. The unbearable populace and the middle class revolted and overthrew Morley's government. The newly formed radical government continued to take a hostile stance towards Gristo and Dunwall, and a local war broke out.
A clearer map of the islands, Morley Island is northeast of Gristo
After several surprise attacks by the Morley navy on Dunwall, Empress Ressa Olaska ordered the construction of a fortress on Teikko Island off the coast of Dunwall to defend against Morley's attack. She also greatly expanded Gristo's navy, giving it ample advantage against Morley's fleet. However, Morley then sent Assassins to infiltrate the city through the unfortified sewers of Dunwall. On 8 December 1801, Empress Ressa was assassinated in Dunvota, a well-defended center of power, ending the Oraska dynasty.
The loss of its own leader during the war was a heavy blow to the empire. On the 18th of the clan, it was too late to decide that the next emperor's council temporarily chose a regent to lead the government and army to continue the war against Morley, and the empire entered the first regency period. A year later, in the month of 1802, under the attack of the powerful Imperial Navy, Morley surrendered and the war officially ended.
The impact of the Morley riots was far-reaching. After the end of the war, Morley, who had been at war for many years, suffered the worst famine in history, but due to the indifference of the Dunwall government and the apathy of the rest of the empire, this famine eventually hit Morley hard, and a large number of Morley people had to flee south by boat to Sokonos, which to some extent contributed to the development of Sokonos and the prosperity of the island capital Karnaca. In addition, Morley's many surprise raids and assassinations during the war and the death of Empress Ressa put the safety of the Dunwall royal family on the agenda, and the Dunwall sewers underwent a reinforcement and expansion, making it difficult for the Assassins to reach Dunwall Tower through the sewers; The fortress of Teikko Island was expanded again as a permanent garrison fortress and became the outer defensive line of Dunwall; The famous position of "royal guard" took shape during the Morley Rebellion and was later supported by law. The position of Royal Spy Minister also gradually moved from the background into the spotlight during this war, and as the Empire's intelligence chief, the spy minister played a very important role in Gristo's suppression of the Morley Rebellion.
Corvo Atano, the protagonist of allegiance to the Caudwin dynasty, was also a royal spy minister
On the 3rd of the sow month of 1803, Jacob Caldwin was elected by Parliament and crowned king. The First Regency period ended. The era of the Coddwins began. On the 13th of the same year, Emperor Ouhong officially recognized Morley's famine and united the rest of the empire to begin disaster relief and help Morley return to normal.
Emperor Ouhon vigorously developed the infrastructure of Dunwall City in the early years of his reign, and the previously reinforced and expanded Dunwall sewers were supported and completed during his reign; Ouhon also ordered the construction of the Caldwin Bridge across the Renhaven River, connecting the city of Dunwall and improving road traffic. 1809 Kiki month 1. The city of Dunwall formed its own law enforcement force, the City Guard.
Dunwall under Ou Hon is basically similar to the game
Much more can be said about the empire under Emperor Erhon, but during this period, everything was eclipsed by Esmond Rothball and his whale-fueled technology. Rothball's whale oil technology brought electric lights to the streets of Dunwall, and factories began to innovate their equipment into mass production, and he used his invention to open the door to the industrial age of the island empire. In 1820, Rothball met Anton Sokolov, a scientist with sharp and genius ideas, and had his own unique views on whale oil technology. With Rothball's encouragement and support, Anton began to show his talent.
In 1822, Anton became the royal physician of the Coddwin dynasty and the president of the ancient scientific institution of the Academy of Natural Sciences, and with the support of the scientific community and the royal family, Anton's ability was fully demonstrated. If Rothball found his way into the industrial age, then Anton was the real hero who pushed the entire empire into the industrial age. Including various whale oil drive production equipment and whale oil drive weapons were invented and quickly put into service. By 1825, the island empire had grown by leaps and bounds on the industrial path and the economy was growing rapidly, and Dunwall, the center of it all, became the most advanced and luxurious metropolis in the empire.
The advent of electricity dragged the medieval country into the Industrial Revolution
Finally, the wheel of history has come to an era that we are all familiar with. The great Emperor Ouhong will eventually pass away, and the only person who is qualified to inherit the islands is Ouhong's daughter, Jasmine Cordwin. And under the islands, there is already an undercurrent.
Maybe a few more days to sort out the worldview and details of the shame series, and then I want to write about the magic chant and the magic system. I hope that everyone who sees the article will comment on where I wrote wrong or bad, and learn lessons to make progress.
