Dianqing East Reef is located at 9 degrees 54 minutes north latitude and 114 degrees 36 minutes east longitude. Dyeqing Sandbar is a reef in the northeast of the Jiuzhang Reef. Because it is close to the east of the Dyeqing sandbar, it is called Dyeqing East Reef.

In 1933, French India sent warships from there to invade the Paracel Islands and the Spratly Islands. The French Indian side has always wanted the Paracel Islands and the Spratly Islands to be incorporated into French India. The colonies of French India included Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.

In 1935, the National Government announced the islands and reefs in the South China Sea, and at that time announced that there were 190 islands and reefs in the South China Sea. At that time, it was not announced that Qingdong Reef was dyed.

In 1946, the Nationalist Government sent Colonel Lin Zun to lead the "Zhongye", "Taiping", "Zhongjian" and "Yongxing" to the South China Sea to declare national sovereignty, and these warships later became the names of islands and reefs in the South China Sea.

In 1947, the National Government once again announced the names of islands and reefs in the South China Sea. The name Dye Qingdong Reef was announced at the time. This name has been used until now.

In 1954, France withdrew from the Indochina Peninsula. South Vietnam considered France's privileges in the Paracels and Spratly Islands to be inherited by itself. In 1954, South Vietnam sent warships to occupy Coral Island, Kampan Quan Island and Treasure Island in the Paracel Islands, and although South Vietnam withdrew from Coral Island and Treasure Island, it remained in control of Treasure Island.

From 1973 to 1974, South Vietnam sent warships to occupy six islands and reefs: Spratly Island, Jinghong Island and An Bo Sandbar in the Spratly Islands.

In 1988, armed conflict broke out between the navies of the eastern powers and the Vietnamese navy. The eastern powers won the victory, and the eastern powers sent soldiers to station in Jiuzhang Reef Dongmen Reef and Chigua Reef, and used these islands and reefs to control nearby islands and reefs such as Tangqingdong Jiao.

Now Dye Qing East Reef is guarded by the mainland's East Gate Reef garrison. Thanh Thanh Reef is about 3 nautical miles from Vietnam's occupation of Thanh Thanh Sandbar. Vietnam deployed 1 platoon on the island, about 30 people. Now Dye Thanh Sands has undergone reclamation projects in Vietnam and now covers an area of 0.16 square kilometers. Vietnam renamed Dye Thanh Sandbar to Dongjing Hong Island.
