On the morning of May 8th, the "Chenghuai Taste Dong Wei Calligraphy Works Exhibition" co-sponsored by Maoming Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports and Maoming Calligraphy and Painting Institute was grandly opened at the Art Museum of Maoming Calligraphy and Painting Institute in Guangdong Province. Zheng Chunxu, deputy secretary general of Maoming Municipal People's Government, Dong Wei, president of Beijing Shangyi Academy, Liao Jing, president of Maoming Calligraphy and Painting Institute, Wu Xuexiang, chairman of Maoming Calligraphers Association, Zhong Youkang, famous calligrapher, Li Xianghua, head of the literature and art section of Maoming Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Wang Fengfei, professor of Wuyi University in Jiangmen, Deng Xiaoyang, secretary of the party group and director of the Dianbai District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Xie Chun, vice chairman of the Dianbai District Federation of Industry and Commerce, Cui Feng and Liu Naiming, special vice presidents of the Maoming Calligraphy and Painting Institute, Yang Weifang, director of the office of the Municipal Calligraphy and Painting Institute, Liang Jinwen, member of the presidium of the Municipal Book Association and the Art Association, More than 100 calligraphy and painting enthusiasts from Maoming and surrounding cities and counties attended the opening ceremony. The event was presided over by Yang Zhongjian, vice president of Maoming Calligraphy and Painting Institute, and President Liao Jing and Deputy Secretary-General Zheng Chunyu spoke separately, giving high praise to Dong Wei's calligraphy art, believing that this exhibition has brought a new wind to the Maoming calligraphy circle and is a feast for maoming calligraphy and painting art.

Dong Wei studied under Mr. Wang Yong and has served as the director of the teaching department of the China Book Court since 2006, presided over calligraphy teaching at Peking University Famous Studio, Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, Renmin University Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Institute, Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, and founded Beijing Shangyi Academy. Over the years, he has been in extensive contact with contemporary first-class people and famous artists, absorbing and cultivating, and making great achievements. His calligraphy works have been exhibited and awarded in national exhibitions for many times, and he is frequently invited to participate in major exhibitions at home and abroad. At the same time, Mr. Dong Wei has also been committed to the research and practice of calligraphy teaching for a long time, synthesizing the strengths of all families, summing up a set of systematic, professional and efficient teaching methods, in the past fifteen years, cultivating and tutoring thousands of calligraphy enthusiasts, holding more than 50 calligraphy lectures throughout the country and various colleges and universities, and being praised by Wang Yong, Liu Zhengcheng and other famous artists as "outstanding figures in contemporary calligraphy educators".
Showroom scene
A total of nearly 50 of Mr. Dong Wei's recent calligraphy works are exhibited in this exhibition. The works are prepared in five bodies, most of which are xingshu and lishu. There are both small characters and eight-foot giant obstacles, with diverse forms, both inscriptions and inscriptions, and simple atmosphere, reflecting the author's solid foundation, broad vision, extensive coverage and unique style pursuit.
Lecture site
At three o'clock in the afternoon, Mr. Dong Wei gave a special lecture entitled "Empty Na Wanjing - Talking about the Blank Space of Calligraphy and Painting Art" for local calligraphy and painting lovers. Mr. Dong Wei combined a large number of pictures to explain in detail the role and application of blank space in calligraphy with pens, knots and chapters through comparison with Chinese and Western paintings. The professional, in-place, vivid and grounded explanation was highly praised by the audience.
