But there is a special case in every field, and Leap is even one of the more maverick of the car-making forces. In the field of small and mini vehicles that other new forces have not been involved in, Leap Auto took the lead in laying out a Leap T03, and upgraded this car this year.
The 2023 Leap T03 has added an entry-level model, lowering the threshold from more than 80,000 to 59,900. In addition, two new body colors have been added, namely Glacier Blue and Sky Gray, the former of which adopts a contrast design like quicksand powder. The new Leap T03 also adds three interior colors, namely sea salt blue, English bei pink, and forest gray.
In addition to becoming richer in color, the exterior design, interior layout and configuration of the 2023 Leap T03 have not been greatly adjusted. The front face is still a relatively rounded style, and there is a hollow line in the closed middle net, as if grinning, which looks very cute.
The shape of the headlight group incorporating quadrilateral elements is extremely cute, and the light strips in a circle are like the eyes of a panda. The front face also retains the side deflectors, forming an upward and downward symmetry with the headlight cluster.
Although the Zerorun T03 is a pure electric vehicle, the door handle does not provide a hidden design. Although it did not keep up with the trend, after all, the price of the vehicle is here, and it is impossible to apply all the popular elements to this car. And compared to hidden door handles, I think traditional door handles are more practical.
In terms of body size, the 2023 Leap T03 remains the same as the previous generation model, with a body length of 3620mm, width of 1652mm, height of 1605mm, and a wheelbase of 2400mm. In the mini car market, the Leap T03 can definitely be regarded as a big man, and its length and wheelbase have advantages over the "sales king" Wuling Hongguang MINI EV in this field.
The shape of the rear is regular, the shape of the light group is more chic, and the contrast design of red and yellow is easy to impress. The edges of the light cluster are blackened and connected by a black strip with the English logo of Zero. However, the color of this logo and the color of the strip are too close, and it cannot be seen in poor light, and the recognition is not high enough.
Like other mini scooters, the interior of the Leap T03 is also simple, but it is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster and a large touch LCD display. All models are equipped with Leapmotor OS vehicle system, which integrates satellite navigation, navigation traffic information display, voice recognition and other functions. OTA upgrades, Internet of Vehicles and other functions are standard on all models, and the top-equipped model adds facial recognition to the regular version model.
In addition to the top-equipped model, other versions of the model are relatively simple in terms of active and passive safety, and the whole series is only equipped with two main and auxiliary airbags, and functions such as brake assist, traction control, and body stability are only available in the top-equipped model. The difference between the 403 Light Edition model and the 403 Smart Edition model is only 9,000 pieces, but the active and passive safety configuration is much worse, and the cost performance between the two is clear at a glance.
What surprised me was that this more than 50,000 micro scooters on sale were equipped with an assisted driving system, but if you want to experience the convenience brought by this set of assisted driving systems, you have to look at the 403 Smart Edition, which is the most complete auxiliary configuration in the whole system, and adaptive cruise that can be combined with Leapmotor Pilot is only available in this version.
Thanks to the 2400mm long wheelbase, the rear space of the Leap T03 is no longer just a "child seat". Adults of 1.75 meters sit in the back row, leaving some room for movement in their heads and legs, and do not feel particularly depressed. However, if you are more than 1.8 meters tall, your knees will be attached to the back of the front seat, and you will feel more suffocated.
The 2023 Leap T03 adds a departmental model with a 40-kilowatt power motor and a combined cruising range of 200 kilometers. The other two powers are the same as the 2022 model, which are 50 kW and 80 kW respectively, and the combined cruising range is 310 km and 403 km respectively.
The overall cruising range of the Leap T03 is not a low figure in the field of mini vehicles, and the entry range of 200 kilometers is already very competitive compared to some other models with a cruising range of 120 kilometers or 170 kilometers.
All in all, the new Zerorun T03 lowers the threshold by reducing the cruising range, and also improves its competitiveness to a certain extent. After all, many competing models at this price range start at more than 30,000, although the cruising range may be shorter, but the price advantage is in front of them, consumers are still more likely to lean towards low-priced cars. Now Zerorun has lowered the threshold to 59,900, and the competitiveness can be slightly stronger.
