Major League soccer team Cincinnati Football Club fired coach Stam and temporarily appointed coach Marshall, the club's under-19 and under-23 coaches.
After the departure of former Manchester United defender Stam, Cincinnati has won just four of its 25 games this season, at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
After beating the Toronto Raptors 2-0 on June 26, Cincinnati has lost three straight games and has won just one of its last 16 games.
Marshall, a two-time Major League Cup winner for the Los Angeles Galaxy, will take the lead for the first time in Wednesday's Cinsey game against Toronto, the only team after him.
