In the course of more than twenty years, the relationship between our Party and the Kuomintang is also complicated, not clearly explained in a few words, from the partners who cooperated in those years, to the opponents who pointed out their swords, to the comrades-in-arms who jointly resisted the Japanese Kou, because of such complicated experiences, most of the generals of the Nationalist army have also fought with our army, but there is still a senior general of the Nationalist army who has never fought with our army in his life, and he is Zhang Zhizhong, who is known as the "general of peace."

Zhang Zhizhong is a native of Chao County, Anhui Province, born in 1890. His ancestors were not rich and noble people, but ordinary farmers, and when his father was idle, he used the learned crafts to do some handicraft work and sell, making money to subsidize the family, so his family's life was slightly better than that of his neighbors.
From the age of six, Zhang Zhizhong entered a private school for four years, and then dropped out of school to work as an apprentice in a shop in the county. The experience of being an apprentice in the past few years has given him a new plan for his life, he does not want to be a smith like his father and uncle, nor does he want to be a salesman in this small county, he wants a life that truly belongs to him.
At the age of 16, he took the 24 silver dollars that his mother had put together for him, left home, and took the first step in a new life. He wanted to take the road of joining the army and applied for the Anqing Army Primary School, but unfortunately, with his cultural level at that time, he failed to achieve his wishes, and later fell into the Yangzhou Police Coaching Institute, and after graduation, he became a regular police officer of the Anqing Patrol Police Bureau.
At this time, Zhang Zhizhong can also be regarded as having a career, and since he has "karma", he should also have a home. A few months later he received a letter from his mother asking him to return to marry. On the way back he had been imagining what the marriage would look like, because he had never seen her before, did not even know her name, and their union only followed the wishes of his parents.
Arranged marriages in the feudal era, I don't know how many young people's feelings were erased, and also created many tragedies, but this time they created a happy marriage that accompanied them for decades.

Soon after the establishment of Huangpu that year, Zhang Zhizhong was transferred from the Guijun Officer School to Huangpu as the acting chief of the General Brigade of Enlisted Students, and he and Zhou Enlai, who was then the director of the Political Department, saw each other and felt sorry for each other, and became good friends who talked about everything. It was precisely under the introduction of Zhou Gong that Zhang Zhizhong was very eager for our party's ideas and ideas, and applied to Zhou Gong several times to join the party.
However, when the two parties cooperated, there was an agreement that our party could not absorb senior officers of the nationalist army as party members, so Zhang Zhizhong's request was not approved, and although his wish could not be realized, he always had a good feeling for our party. Later, after the defeat of the Great Revolution, in order to avoid war with our army, he took the initiative to apply for transfer from the second line and was responsible for military education within the party.
Although General Zhang has never fought a war with our army, as one of Chiang Kai-shek's "Eight Great Kongs," being able to gain Chiang Kai-shek's trust and reuse shows that he really has superior skills. The Northern Expedition, the Great Battle of the Central Plains, the invasion of Fujian, and the attack on the Nineteenth Route Army, almost all of Chiang Kai-shek's military opponents Zhang Zhizhong fought, including the invading Japanese army.
After the outbreak of the Songhu Anti-Japanese War in 1932, he took the initiative to ask Lao Jiang for war, led the Fifth Army to support the anti-Japanese battlefield, and left a suicide note before leaving.
For more than two months, he led his army to experience dozens of large and small battles with the Japanese Kou, of which the most brilliant victory in the temple was commanded by Zhang Zhizhong, and this battle and the Japanese Kou bloody battle lasted for three days and nights, eliminating more than 3,000 Japanese troops and dealing a heavy blow to the arrogance of the Japanese army. Five years have passed, the flames of war have rekindled here, and General Zhang has reorganized his army and participated in the Battle of Songhu.
After the battle, Zhang Zhizhong was transferred to the chairman of Hunan Province, but unfortunately, because of the imprecision of the dispatchers, a one-word difference caused a fire in Wenxi. The destruction of Changsha's thousands of years of cultural accumulation in this matter infuriated Chiang Kai-shek, several responsible persons were shot, and Zhang Zhizhong was dismissed from his post and left behind.

After more than ten years of waiting, finally looking forward to the defeat of the Japanese army, during the peace talks, Zhang Zhizhong and Zhou Gong, an old friend, finally reunited. But under the negotiating table, they returned to the friendly state of the past, and when Zhou Gong went to Guiyuan as a guest, the two talked about everything except some special matters.
Four years later, the domestic situation has reversed. When the first National Defense Commission was established in 1954, Zhang Zhizhong was elected vice chairman and became a deputy state leader, which was the trust of the state and the people in him.
