The aerial part of the orchid is 5–25 cm tall and leafless. The flowers are gorgeous, and the shape is strange, like a frog in a jumping state.

When the wind blows gently, the petals swing with the wind, much like a ghost floating in mid-air, so this orchid is named "ghost orchid".
