Beijing, 28 Feb (Xinhua) -- Comrade Li Rui, former member of the CPC Central Advisory Committee and former vice minister of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee (ministerial treatment), died in Beijing on February 16, 2019 at the age of 102 due to ineffective medical treatment.

During Comrade Li Rui's serious illness and after his death, the relevant leading comrades of the central authorities expressed their condolences and condolences in different ways.

Li Rui, formerly known as Li Housheng, was born in April 1917 in Pingjiang, Hunan. He joined the revolutionary work in the spring of 1936 and joined the Communist Party of China in February 1937. In December 1939, he was appointed chief of the Propaganda Section of the Propaganda Department of the Youth Work Committee of the CPC Central Committee. From September 1941, he successively served as the editor of the domestic commentary of the Liberation Daily and the head of the Liberated Area Group of the Commentary Department. In October 1945, he became the director of Jireliao Daily. In 1948, he was appointed political secretary of the leading comrades of the Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. From August 1949, he successively served as the director of the New Hunan Newspaper, the deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, and the acting minister. Since October 1952, he has successively served as the director of the General Bureau of Hydropower Construction of the Ministry of Fuel Industry, the assistant minister of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry and the director of the General Bureau of Hydropower Construction, and the vice minister of water conservancy and electric power. Persecuted during the Cultural Revolution. In April 1979, he was appointed Vice Minister of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Political Commissar of the Hydropower Headquarters of the Infrastructure Engineering Corps, and in August 1980, he was also the Deputy Director of the National Energy Commission and a member of the Party Group. Since April 1982, he has successively served as the director and vice minister of the Youth Cadre Bureau of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. He retired in June 1995.

Li Rui was a member of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and was co-opted and elected as a member of the Central Advisory Committee at the National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in September 1985.
