A cosplayer who first tried to play Jill Valentine in Resident Evil 1 accurately and faithfully portrayed a survival horror icon.
A fan recently showed off a great cosplay by Jill Valentine from Resident Evil, which was also their first attempt. Debuting in 1996, Resident Evil's first protagonists, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, have become beloved staples in Capcom's wildly popular horror series, which, of course, has also led to a fair share of role-playing. Even Jill Valentine's current Resident Evil 3 voice actor recently put on an impressive cosplay.
While the 1996 classic, and the somewhat impressive Resident Evil 1 remake, can be a bit cumbersome to play by contemporary standards, the influence of the original game's foundations continues to resonate throughout the series. Resident Evil 1 has built mainstays of popular series such as Umbrella Group, Raccoon City, as well as several iconic characters such as central rival Albert Wesker and, of course, the main characters Chris Redfer and Gil Valentine. Since many of the main plot points of the original game have either been resolved or broken by the norm, it's understandable that most of these story beats are still just whispers in newer Resident Evil games. However, despite the lack of direct impact on recent stories, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8 still pay homage to the roots of the series, including RE7's homage to Resident Evil 1's shotgun puzzles.
Reddit user Dizzy-Law2969 showed their own homage to the first Resident Evil and did a very accurate roleplay for Jill Valentine's debut. Based on the Resident Evil 1 Remake, the colors of the fan outfit match almost perfectly, with the Beret and shoulders adorned with the RPD star logo. Particularly impressive details can be seen on the shoulder pads, which have two metal studs. Putting it all together is a pair of combat boots, Jill's signature thigh holster and an airsoft shotgun.

Dizzy-Law2969's cosplay is an impressive tribute to Jill Valentine's origins. With the current Resident Evil story moving beyond its foundation, now is a good time to remember where it all began. With Chris Redfield appearing in several recent titles, Jill Valentine's return in the story of Resident Evil 9 would be a great way to help strengthen the fading connection to the original themes of the series. What's more, appearing in Resident Evil Part 9 could mean more cosplay inspiration for Jill Valentine's fans.
While it may not be maintained in terms of gameplay, it's clear from cosplayers like Dizzy-Law2969 that Resident Evil 1 still has a place in the hearts of RE fans. Whether it's the Hunter's genuine fear or the irreplaceable savage charm of dialogue like the infamous Jill sandwich lines, Resident Evil 1 still has a lot to offer when it comes to memories. While there's no guarantee that popular characters like Jill or Leon will return in the next installment of Resident Evil, it's clear that fans won't mind meeting them again in the near future of Resident Evil.
