I don't know why when I wrote it, Zheng Jun's song "Back to Lhasa" has been haunting my ears.
Back to Lhasa
Back to Potala
Back to Lhasa
Returned to the Potala Palace

Excerpt from the official website of "Potala Palace"
Potala Palace, located on Maburi Mountain, northwest of Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, is the world's highest elevation, a magnificent building integrating palaces, castles and monasteries, and is also the largest and most complete ancient palace and castle complex in Tibet.
The Potala Palace was built in the 7th century AD during the reign of Songtsen Gampo of the Tubo Dynasty, with a history of 1,300 years. It was originally built for the Tubo Dynasty Zampu Songtseng Gampo to marry Princess Ruzun and Princess Wencheng. In 1645 (the second year of the Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty), after the protector king Gushi Khan and the Gelug regent Sonam Qunpei rebuilt the Potala Palace during the Qing Dynasty vassal state and the Shuot Khanate, it became the residence of the winter palace of the successive Dalai Lamas, as well as the place where major religious and political ceremonies were held, and it was also the place where the spiritual pagoda of the previous Dalai Lamas was enshrined, and it was the ruling center together with the minister Yamen in Tibet in the past.
In the past 1300 years, the Potala Palace has formed a huge palace fort covering an area of 400,000 square meters, with a construction area of 130,000 square meters, and the main building of the Red Palace is 115.703 meters high, with palaces, spiritual pagoda halls, main halls, Buddha halls, prayer halls, offices of important functional institutions, former official schools, dormitories, courtyards, cloisters and many other functions. The palace treasures 8 golden pagodas of the Dalai Lama, 5 exquisite three-dimensional mandalas and more than 70,000 pieces of various cultural relics such as porcelain, gold, silver and bronze, Buddha statues, stupas, thangkas, costumes, etc., and more than 60,000 scrolls (parts) of classics, becoming a veritable treasure of cultural relics, attracting the attention of people all over the world, and is known as the pearl of the roof of the world.
In 1961, the Potala Palace became one of the first national key cultural relics protection units of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. In 1994, the Potala Palace was listed as a World Heritage Site.
