According to the 6G technology test plan of the IMT-2030 working group, 2022~2024 is the key technology test stage, and the main technical directions of 6G will be clarified, and the concept prototype test verification will be carried out to improve technical capabilities. Facing 2030 and beyond, 6G will achieve full-spectrum utilization, space-space-ground integrated coverage, intelligent interconnection of man, machine and things, rich application scenarios, and comprehensive improvement of key performance and technical indicators, relying on breakthroughs in key technologies such as new air interface and transmission technologies and network architecture.

(1) More powerful network capabilities:

According to the world's first 6G white paper "Key Drivers and Research Challenges for the Omnipresence of 6G Wireless Intelligence" released by the University of Oulu, Finland, most performance indicators of 6G will be improved by 10~100 times compared with 5G. On the basis of the three major application scenarios of 5G - eMBB (enhanced mobile broadband), URLLC (ultra-high reliability and ultra-low latency communication), and mMTC (massive machine communication), 6G will add two application scenarios of artificial intelligence and perception.

Application of 6G in the metaverse:

Compared with the basic application scenarios implemented by 5G, 6G can provide millisecond-level latency, ultra-high bandwidth, and guaranteed security and reliability for application scenarios such as immersive XR, holograms, and sensory interconnection in the metaverse. 6G far surpasses 5G in key performance indicators such as peak rate, network performance, mobility, latency and jitter, reliability, and coverage, providing users with a smooth, stable, and secure immersive interactive experience.
