In fact, lizards are a large family, some contain highly poisonous, such as Komodo dragons, some will change color, such as chameleons, some will climb walls, such as the geckos we often see on screen windows, and some walk in the fields like blue-tailed stone dragons.

Originally, this was because the mode of agricultural production that has lasted for thousands of years in Our country has changed, from the previous natural production mode to the current large-scale mechanized production mode. It is this change in production mode that directly causes the ecological balance of the crop field to be destroyed, so that the lizard figure disappears into the field.
In fact, the lizards we often see in the fields when we were children are called "Chinese stone dragons". As a predator of the "low end" of the field food chain, Chinese shilongzi does not have high requirements for habitat, whether it is in the mountains, fields or even in the grass on the roadside. Because their favorite food is insects and butterflies, and the field or grass is their food supply place.
In the past, farmers used farm manure more often, and although the yield of agricultural products was not high, it did not cause structural damage to the soil. But with the shift of technology to agriculture, a large amount of fertilizer is supplied to the market. With the emergence of a variety of fertilizers on the market, the price is low, and farmers often do not use them according to the instructions, resulting in serious soil pollution in rural areas. Coupled with the acceleration of modern industrialization, a large amount of waste gas wastewater is directly discharged into nearby farmland, and these fertilizer substances or heavy metal elements in the wastewater are the direct culprits in killing lizards.
But this is not the only reason why the Chinese stone dragon is almost gone, with the technologicalization of agriculture, a large number of pesticides sprayed by humans have directly poisoned insects in the field, although these insects are pests to us, but they are the most precious food for lizards. Moreover, if the lizard eats the insects that have been sprayed with pesticides, it will also "poison and die".
In addition to the above reasons, the use of large agricultural machinery is also one of the reasons for the disappearance of lizards. Lizards are oviparous animals that lay eggs that attach directly to the surface of farmland or shallow burrows. Whenever large agricultural machinery harvests field crops, the lizard's eggs are easily destroyed, resulting in a much lower reproduction of offspring.
In the final analysis, we can see that it is agricultural technology, a large number of fertilizers and pesticides inputs, and with the popularization of agricultural machinery and greenhouse temperature control. As a result, almost all insects that are harmful to crop growth, except for viruses, disappear from crop fields. And once a species has a big problem with its food sources, the species will quickly fade out of view. This is true of lizards, as are many other small animals in the field.
So, what kind of enlightenment does the disappearance of the lizard give us?
With the continuous progress of science and technology, a variety of food, industrial products of the variety, production is constantly enriched, but also some organisms are facing the danger of extinction, but this is not the same as the survival of the fittest in nature.
