The Final Fantasy series spans nearly 40 years with Nintendo's storied history, and loyal fans of the series showcase an impressive collection of Final Fantasy games available on multiple Nintendo consoles. The lineup was announced months before the Nintendo Switch won another major Final Fantasy title, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunited.

Reddit user u/PsimplePsychology showcased a string of Final Fantasy games from the Game Boy Advance to Nintendo's latest system, the Switch. The first game in the series is Final Fantasy 1 and 2: Dawn of Souls, a Game Boy Advance compilation of the first two Final Fantasy games. The Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS received the first six Final Fantasy games as exclusive Nintendo remakes. These games will eventually land on PC and mobile with major improvements to the Final Fantasy Pixel Remake series. However, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series is currently not available on the Switch, although fans are rushing to grab it.

u/PsimplePsychology's collection includes physical copies of all numbered Final Fantasy games on the Switch, from Final Fantasy 7 to Final Fantasy 12: Age of the Zodiac. Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 8 Remastered are available digitally on Switch, but the games are also released as physical "double packs" by online retailers like Play-Asia. In addition, Final Fantasy 9 is another game that received the physical version of the Switch, which appeared in the collection along with Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster. Final Fantasy XII: Return Wings, the Nintendo DS sequel, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, completes Nintendo's Final Fantasy game series.

As u/PsimplePsychology points out, many Final Fantasy titles are available on the Nintendo platform. However, users hope to see the Final Fantasy 13 series one day join the Nintendo series. Currently, all three Final Fantasy 13 games are available through backward compatibility with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Console players can't play Final Fantasy 13 on the latest hardware from Nintendo and PlayStation.

Final Fantasy has a long history with PlayStation and Nintendo, and the u/Psimple Psychology series is just one example of the series' expansion into different platforms. Hopefully, Square Enix will continue to invest in the Final Fantasy series, eventually bringing the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster and Final Fantasy 13 series to the Switch.

Luckily, Final Fantasy VII: Core Crisis Reunion will arrive on Switch this December to support Nintendo's lineup of Final Fantasy games. The new Final Fantasy 7 title should prove to be a valuable addition to this fan collection.
