On April 14, South Korean prosecutors recommended the death penalty for Jeong In's adoptive mother. The prosecution pointed out that from the evidence already available, the defendant did not care about the health and safety of the adopted daughter and did not let the child seek medical treatment after the continued abuse led to the deterioration of the adopted daughter's health. Forensic and autopsy doctors found that the defendant, having been severely beaten and injured in the abdomen of his adopted daughter, once again stomped on her belly with his foot, causing her to be fatally injured, and was guilty of indirect intentional homicide.
