What did you imagine the scene? Isabel Uzman, a paper artist living in Bratislava, is also fascinated by fairy tales, carving her fairy tale books and other books into a paper fairy tale scene with forests, meadows and lush vegetation, imbued with a quiet, calm mystery.
About 3 years ago, Isabel Uzman began to create this series of works, the original intention of the creation is to hope to find the child in people's bodies, in her opinion, adults after experiencing a lot of things, become vicissitudes, worldly, no longer have illusions about fairy tales, but what she wants to say is that there are many things in this world, but our original intention has always been beautiful.
The artist takes fairy tale scenes as the starting point, using a combination of painting and sculpture to "make fairy tales" in paper books. The size, thickness and texture of a book play a very important role in this way of creating: "I often need to hold a book in my hand before I can imagine a new work of art".
Under normal circumstances, it takes one month to three months to complete a work from the initial conception to painting and engraving, and the workload in the painting stage alone is very large, requiring sketching, then stroke, and finally coloring. Isabel Uzman's book sculptures are very delicate and have a strong depth, allowing people to be transported into a dreamy, mysterious fairy tale scene at once.
