Bayannaoer, 16 Aug (Reporter Zhang Linhu) On the 16th, this reporter learned from the National Wild Soso forest reserve in Gwendur Town, Urat Houqi, Bayannaoer City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, that the reserve photographed wolves, lynxes, and herds of northern goats and other national second-level protected animals.

It is understood that the staff of the reserve filmed an adult wolf and 4 young wolves in the wild through an infrared camera placed in the wild, and also took a picture of a lynx and a herd of northern goats. The field photographed the trajectory of adult wolves, lynxes, etc., which is the first time that the Wulat Houqi has used a field infrared camera to photograph a national second-level protected animal.

Since the natural enemies of goats are mainly lynx, wolves and snow leopards, the photography of wolves, lynx and herds of goats in the same area further reflects the gradual formation of food chains in this natural area, which will be very conducive to biodiversity restoration.

According to statistics, there are currently about 6 populations of northern goats in this protected area, the total number is conservatively estimated to be 100 to 200, and the largest group is found to be 29. The northern goat was originally a national first-level protected wild animal, and on February 5 this year, it was adjusted to a national second-level protected wild animal.

In recent years, with the implementation of the national forest and grassland protection policy, Wulat Houqi has taken a variety of effective measures to protect the forest and grassland according to local conditions, and as the protection measures have taken effect year by year, the ecological environment of the Wulat grassland has continued to improve, and the number of wild animal populations has gradually increased.
