The fierce woman in Chinese history - a woman who commanded a dynasty

author:Teacher Chunqiu talked about history

A few years ago, the TV series "The Legend of Mi Yue" was popular, showing a woman in the Qin Kingdom in the Warring States period who could be compared with a man - Mi Yue.

In fact, about a thousand years before Mi Yue was born, there was a woman who was fiercer, more like a man, and more violent than her. She was the original empress of Wu Ding, the king of the Shang Dynasty, and she was a good woman.

Woman Hao, good surname (guyin zǐ, same son surname), was one of the more than 60 wives of King Wuding of the Shang Dynasty, and was one of the three legal spouses.

Not only was she the first documented female military commander in Chinese history (according to Oracle), but she was also an outstanding female politician. She led an army to conquer the west to expand the territory of Wuding, and also presided over various sacrifices of the Wuding Dynasty.

"Woman" is the title of a relative of the Shang Dynasty. In the bronze inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty, there is "Houmu Xin", "Xin" is the temple number of the woman, and "mother Xin" is also the woman's good. Because the Shang king Wu Ding was very fond of women, after her death, Wu Ding was deeply saddened and posthumously called her "Xin", and the descendants of the Shang Dynasty honored her as "Mother Xin" or "Queen Mother Xin".

The tomb was discovered in 1976 in Yin Ruins in Anyang, Henan Province, and a large number of intact cultural relics were unearthed. The tomb of Nühao was built on the west side of Yin Ruins (Xiaotun Village, Anyang), and judging from the map left by archaeologists at that time, it was close to the palace at that time, and the location was similar to the central square of the capital.

The life of a woman is magnificent, and the Shang Dynasty oracle has a rich record of women's goodness, letting us know the extraordinary life of this magical woman in ancient times.

The year of her birth and death is unknown, but her husband Wuding reigned from about 1251 BC to 1192 BC, and she was the original empress of Wuding, and it is speculated that she lived more than 1,200 YEARS BC (Empress Xuan, the prototype of Mi Yue, died in 256 BC, a difference of almost a thousand years).

She was not only the empress of Wuding, but also the commander of the army, commanding at most 13,000 troops. You know, the army of ten thousand people in ancient times is equivalent to today's million army.

The oracle bone literature records that The woman often personally led the soldiers, and her tomb did unearth weapons such as ge, spear, and hammer, especially a pair of large axes (that is, oversized axes) that were very eye-catching, and some people once thought that the woman was holding these two large axes to fight in all directions.

In addition, the gluttonous large cymbals and dragon and tiger striped large cymbals excavated from the tomb of the women weighed 17 and 18 kilograms respectively. Could it be that a woman who likes to play with an axe?

Some archaeologists believe that these two large guns will not really be good weapons because they are too heavy. Women would not use such a bulky weapon on the battlefield, foolishly carrying nearly forty pounds of burdens into battle. They were supposed to be symbols of power, decorations inserted into the chariots of women.

Still, some archaeologists believe that the woman may have actually fought with an axe. The reason is that in the tomb of the woman, there is also a large sword with the inscription of "Qiya" or "Yaqi", which is lighter and suitable for use in the array, and there are traces of chopping grids on it.

On the "Qia" large cymbal, non-rust loss and rear block damage on its axe blade can be seen.

It is speculated that this may be a tribe called "Qiya" or "Yaqi", a tribe that is good at forging, a weapon for the female queen, and this female general is armed with this weapon to charge and kill all sides.

The woman is strong in martial arts, and the oracle bone is recorded, and it has been recorded that a prisoner escaped, and Wu Ding asked the woman to go and arrest her back: "Hu woman is good at holding back."

She also successfully commanded the first ambush in Chinese history: the Ghost Fang.

It is said that the Indo-European races that invaded from the Hexi Corridor tried to occupy the territory of The Woman, and after Wu Ding divination, the Woman Good led the army to resist the enemy. Women and horses lead the people to beat the invaders to the ground to find teeth, hating and teaching foreigners who try to occupy other people's territory.

After careful investigation at the tomb of The Lady, it will be found that the Shang King Wuding has buried a complete set of weapons needed for the combat unit for his wife: the chariot of the woman (the combat unit at that time was a chariot), there is a driver in front, a defensive guard with a go on the left, an offensive guard with a spear on the right, and a sniper holding a bow and arrow (the bow may be decayed and not found), and the lady herself is holding a large axe, while cutting the man's head, while shouting: "Rush! Come on! ......”

In this way, if force is used, Empress Mi Yue will certainly not be a good opponent.

Both Empress Dowager Mi Yue and Empress Dowager Mi have one thing to compare with men: they have extremely high power.

However, the power possessed by The Woman was more violent than that of Mi Yue: as a woman, she actually had her own fiefdom, and often lived in her own fiefdom, took care of the affairs of her own country, and had a standing army of three thousand. Husband Wu Ding would come from time to time to be a door-to-door son-in-law (of course, the good queen of women was more in the past). And Empress Mi Yue was not yet independent to this qualification, she could only say "for the sake of Great Qin", and in addition to "for the sake of the Great Merchant", she also had to manage her own country and tell the world that a woman could also rule the world. Judging from the burial items in the tomb of the woman, she seems to be somewhat dismissive of male power.

Lo and behold, there are also funerary items that symbolize her own "phoenix" in the tomb. However, there is only one jade phoenix, and there are more than a hundred pig-like dragons...

The only regret is that regarding the territory of the woman, the oracle bone has never been clearly stated, only marked on the edge of the Shang kingdom.

According to Mr. Wang Guowei's research, the scope of activities of the ghost side is mainly in Shaanxi, and the core of the Shang is in Henan, according to which it is speculated that the fiefdom of Empress Dowager Wuhao is likely to be in the area from Lingbao to Tongguan today.

The symbol of the lady's house is related to the rabbit – called the rabbit country.

Mi Yue and the good birth of the woman are relatively noble, but half of the noble of the mi yue is exaggerated by the TV series, and the good woman is really noble, because according to the Shang Dynasty etiquette, if the mother is not born noble, the child cannot inherit the throne, and the offspring of the good woman have a Shang king, a prince (the woman has given birth to multiple children).

Comparing the burial specifications, Empress Xuan was martyred by the terracotta warriors, while the woman was really martyred by more than a dozen large living people, and one of them was beaten to the skull and burst, and she did not know what kind of etiquette it belonged to. Cruelty to women is significantly higher.

The only thing that Empress Mi Yue could compete with empress dowager was to be able to raise male pets. There is no corresponding record of this aspect of the woman, and it is impossible to marry the monarch of the Yiqu State – her husband Wu Ding is too capable of living, has ascended the throne, has reached adulthood, and is still in power fifty-nine years after ascending the throne, and the woman has not lived through him.

The woman lived to be thirty-three years old (some analysts believe that she was married to Wuding for thirty-three years), higher than the average age of the Shang Dynasty, but could not be compared with her husband Wuding, who ruled for fifty-nine years.
