Recently, the growth trend of 5G users in South Korea has slowed down, so the three major operators have launched low-cost 5G packages at the end of 2022 to attract new users.
As the world's first country to commercialize 5G, at the beginning of 5G commercialization, three mobile operators in South Korea basically determined the 5G package tariff standard. The lowest starting price of 5G services for all three companies is 55,000 won (about 300 yuan). Although the South Korean government has always recommended lowering prices, in the end, the three major operators did not compromise. Among them, SKT and KT's minimum 5G package of 55,000 won includes 8GB of data traffic, and LG U+ includes 9GB of data. In addition, if the traffic is exhausted, the rate is limited to 1Mbps.
Later, the three major operators also made some adjustments to the price and traffic of various plans to attract new users, including increasing the traffic of the lowest-priced 55,000 won package, for example, SKT's 55,000 won package traffic has increased to 11GB.
At the end of last year, South Korean operators opened a price war in order to further grab users, and 5G packages began to be launched at reduced prices.
- SKT: The lowest price is 49,000 won, and 8GB data is available
- KT: The lowest price is 45,000 won, and 5GB data is available
- LG U+: The lowest price is 47,000 won, and you can use 6GB of data
However, it should be noted here that although the traffic is reduced, the rate limit given by all three operators after the traffic is exhausted is 400kbps. Don't take this upper limit seriously, this is still very different from the previous speed limit of 1Mbps experience.
In fact, I have also used the experience of LTE package speed limit 400kbps before, and I feel that I basically have to say goodbye to most of the APP, many go to the page to wait 1 minute, and then simply upgrade other packages, so for users with more traffic, I still don't recommend this low-cost package.
In fact, maybe, just like me, users can't stand this experience, upgrade to a more expensive package, then the operator's purpose will be achieved, hehe.
