In 2019, coinciding with its 30th anniversary, Garmin launched the high-end smartwatch series MARQ, which broke new boundaries in technology and form factor in one fell swoop. However, for an "office navigator" like me, these functions are a bit far, but fortunately, this Navigator MARQ Captain (Gen 2) is not only a nautical watch, it also performs well on land.
First of all, in terms of sports, it provides a large number of land sports tracking functions, including running, golf, skiing, etc., so in other words, this is a multi-functional sports watch with the theme of sailing and sailing, the wearer can calmly choose according to his wishes, and then with the Garmin Connect app on the mobile phone, users can view detailed training tracking data, such as heart rate, calorie expenditure and so on.
When using these functions, GPS assistance can be described as a very important part, and Garmin has done quite well on this watch. They incorporated GNSS multi-frequency multi-satellite positioning and SATIQ satellite technology, so that the correct satellite system can be automatically selected in real time based on the environment, ensuring that accurate positioning can be provided in any environment while optimizing battery life. In terms of health, this Navigator is equipped with the fourth generation optical heart rate sensor, which can measure heart rate more accurately, and combined with Garmin's Firstbeat algorithm, it can not only monitor the wearer's heart rate changes faster, even in strenuous exercise will not affect its measurement accuracy, and in the event of abnormal heart rate, it can monitor and remind the wearer in time with second-level tracking ability.
Among the many health monitoring functions, I personally think the two most practical are health bulletins and sleep monitoring. The former needs to be stationary for 2 minutes to let the watch monitor the relevant data, and then you can see the indicators of heart rate, blood oxygen, breathing and pressure through the mobile phone.

But there are two things that will make its battery life shortened sharply, 1 is to turn on the screen always-on mode, at this time its battery life will be greatly reduced to about 6 days; 2 is multi-band GPS mode, at this point it only has 42 hours of battery life, but it is still much stronger than the 24 hours of the generation MARQ. In short, for this level of battery life, I can only say that it dwarfs those "one charge a day" smart watches.
Nowadays, many traditional watchmaking brands have begun to enter the field of intelligence, and compared with them, Garmin may be slightly lacking in the "watchmaking culture" of traditional luxury watches. But unlike the former, which is generally creating high-end cases for operating systems like Android Wear, Garmin is really trying to create luxurious tool watches, such as the Navigator MARQ Captain (Gen 2) is a perfect example. Although the pre-sale price of 17,800 RMB is not a very competitive price for a smartwatch, I am not pessimistic about it, because the quality, practicality and stability of the Marq 2 are comparable to many traditional Swiss watches, so for consumers who love sports and want to maintain style, the new Garmin MARQ (Gen 2) is definitely a modern choice worth trying.
