The source of the news is Michelle Johnston Holthaus, executive vice president and general manager of Intel CCG, who said that the 16th generation Core will be a new architecture and a new design, which mainly brings some big performance improvements per watt in the mobile space, and more information needs to pay attention to Intel's fourth quarter and full year 2022 financial results meeting announced on January 26.
In last year's warm-up information, Intel revealed that LunarLake was originally aimed at the 15W low-power mobile CPU segment, using the Intel 18A process, and continuing the chiplet chiplet design, and with an external foundry process. The architecture also uses a multi-tiled chip design and 25um pitch Foveros packaging technology, but even if it is for the mobile end, it does not mean that it will not be launched on the desktop side. Prior to this, there was news that the desktop chip of the MetorLake architecture was canceled because the performance of the new process could not be too high at the beginning, so it is not ruled out that the LunarLake architecture will also be difficult to produce on the desktop.
