Located in the northernmost part of Myanmar, Savage Mountain is an undeveloped primeval forest north of Myitkyina and the Himalayas to the north. At 3,411 meters above sea level, Savage Mountain is the highest mountain range in Myanmar, with only a few peaks exceeding 3,000 meters. The area of Savage Mountain is five to six hundred kilometers, which belongs to the watershed of the tributaries of the upper reaches of the Mailikai and Qintun rivers.

According to historical records, the area around Savage Mountain in northern Myanmar belongs to the mainland territory and can be traced back to the Eastern Han Dynasty. According to historical records, during the Eastern Han Dynasty, jadeite from Savage Mountain was presented to the imperial court as a tribute. During the Eastern Han Dynasty on the mainland, Savage Mountain was included in the territory of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

The Ming Dynasty set up six consolation missions on the border of Yunnan on the mainland. The six consolation envoys and the six consolation envoys are the Myanmar Consolation Envoy and the Lao Consolation Envoy, Che Li Consolation Envoy, and Mubang Consolation Envoy. Among them, Savage Mountain belongs to the Meng-like Consolation Mission. The Ming Dynasty wielded enormous influence in Indochina, setting up six consolation missions that encompassed roughly most of present-day Burma, northern Laos, and parts of Thailand.

Many wars broke out between the Qing Dynasty and Burma, and the Qing Dynasty relied on its strong comprehensive national strength to consume Myanmar's national strength. Burma was eventually forced to submit to the Qing Dynasty and became a vassal state of the Qing Dynasty. The Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty had arranged for people to mine jadeite in Savage Mountain, and the Qianlong Emperor regarded these Savage Mountain as national treasures. Later, the Dongwu dynasty of Burma rose and began to unify the tribes of Burma, and the land of Savage Mountain was also reoccupied by Burma.

The British began to send troops to Savage Mountain, and the British successively invaded Savage Mountain, Jiangxinpo and other areas. Due to the constant revolt of the locals and the fact that most of the area belonged to primeval forests, the British were forced to evacuate the area.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the British saw that it was impossible to conquer Savage Mountain by force. The UK began to adopt cultural import. The British sent missionaries and established schools to Savage Mountain to promote British culture and advanced science and technology to the locals, and Savage Mountain slowly accepted the British. In 1926, the British officially conquered Savage Mountain. The Republic of China government did not react to this incident until 1929, when the Yunnan Provincial Representations Office protested to the British Consul General in Kunming, Yunnan, but the British did not give a clear answer to the Savage Mountain incident.
In 1941, Japan launched the attack on Pearl Harbor, and Japan severely damaged the US Pacific Fleet. Japan has set its sights on Western control of Southeast Asia. Japan sent troops to invade Southeast Asia. All roads of communication along the southeast coast of the mainland were cut off by Japan. The mainland's only foreign communication channel, the Burma Road, may also be cut off by the Japanese. Britain also controlled Burma, and Britain asked the Nationalist government to send troops to protect Burma. The Nationalist government sent Du Yuming to lead an expeditionary force of 100,000 to Burma. During the Japanese invasion of Burma, the British retreated without a fight, resulting in the flank of the mainland army being exposed to the presence of Japanese troops. The expeditionary force could only choose to retreat, and the 96th Division, the New 22nd Division and the Fifth Division of the Chinese Expeditionary Force retreated to Savage Mountain under the leadership of General Du Yuming. From Savage Mountain, take a road back to the mainland. In this retreat, 30,000 expeditionary army soldiers were buried in Savage Mountain. The rainy season of Savage Mountain has made Savage Mountain more humid, poisonous snakes, and various diseases have led to a high mortality rate for a large number of soldiers.

At the end of 1944, the Nationalist government had 300,000 troops in the Hukang Valley and beyond Sanjiang. All 300,000 soldiers are required by the emblem of the U.S. military armed forces. The British, however, demanded that the Nationalist government troops hand over to Britain the territory that had just recovered Savage Mountain, and that Britain would also reclaim the Katama area to Britain. The Nationalist government announced the transfer of the expeditionary force to the British.

In 1947, Burma declared its independence from the British. The British transferred to Burma the administrative power of the areas under de facto control including Jiangxinpo, Mengyang, and Savage Mountain. In order to win over and actively wage a civil war, the Nationalist government chose to remain silent during this period. After Burma's independence, Burma inherited British privileges in Yunnan. Myanmar continues to lease 250 square kilometers of territory in the Nankan region of the mainland at a rent of 1,000 rupees per year, and Myanmar also controls the mainland Katama region.

Savage Mountain is home to the world's most famous jade field, the Hpakant Stone Field. The jadeite produced by Hpakant Master Field is old, well-planted, clean, and mostly high-end goods. Savage Mountain is now under the control of Kebang State.

At that time, the Nationalist government had 300,000 troops in the Hukang Valley, and if they insisted on stationing here, the British could not change the situation here. Britain's overall national strength was severely weakened in World War II. In order to win over Britain and start a civil war, the Nationalist government chose to give up a large area of territory, the Jiangxinpo area is 20,000 square kilometers, the area of the Wa Mountains is 12,000 square kilometers, and the Nankan area is 250 square kilometers.
